Proof vs Provely

Mar 21, 2018 03:40

I keep seeing these widgets that show that "so and so just purchased this products X amount of time ago."

Provely.io is a new competitor and has an opening sales for as little as $8/month while their grand opening sale is going on.

https://useproof.com/ appears to have more features, but it's $29 a month and has a limit to the number of visitors

http/www.provely.io shows when people purchase, a few less features, and you can get it during their launch for $17/month ($8/month if you choose yearly). This also enables you to simulate purchases to get the ball rolling.

The Final Episode - My Favorite Tools

Oct 9, 2017 14:22

My Favorite Tools From 10 Years

Social Warfare Plugin - The best tool for sharing things. I love that I can specify the tweet text and the image for Facebook, Pinterest, etc. This is once I don't wince when the subscription payment comes through

Convertkit - I like MailChimp, Aweber, but I switched to Convertkit last year, and I love the marketing tools that I can use and the ability to make my own landing/sales pages.

Siteground Web Hosting - 10 Years ago I would've sung the praises of Hostgator, and I thought Bluehost was OK. I do not recommend them at all, and I like Siteground. Their support is so much better. I also love Godaddy support, so I created coolerwebsites.com which is my GoDaddy reseller account

Divi Theme (Elegant Themes) - The most flexible WordPress theme I've used and still fairly easy to use (there is a bit of a learning curve, and you probably won't use all of its features). I DO NOT recommend Appendpipity themes. They were awesome, but from what I can tell, the lights are on but nobody is home. I am interested in checking out Thrive Themes, and Themify (very divi like)

Speaking of Websites and Wordpress Management, I LOVE ManageWP and recommend it to everyone who has a WordPress site.

Bomb Bomb Is a cool Video Email service that pays for itself every month I have someone share how cool it was that I sent them a personalized video

Kit.com is a great way to bundle Amazon products. I tried Fresh Store Builder and it was OK. My favorite is EasyAzon for Amazon Tools. ( I use this on bestpodcastinggear.com/shop )

Acuity Scheduling is the best tool for Scheduling Appointments. I love that it works with Freshbooks so I can have people book consulting time, get paid upfront and have an invoice in my billing system.

For Membership Websites, if you are using Wordpress I loved Digital Access Pass. If you want your membership site separate from Wordpress I love Thinkific.

In regards to project management, I love todosit.com

For automated Tweeting, I like Social Jukebox

If I was doing a contest I would use Contest Blitz

If I was creating an Affiliate Program, I would use iDev Affiliate

For Chat on a website, I love https://www.tawk.to/

Ecover Generator is a Tool to use from some of the lead magnets and you get lifetime access for $47.

Nimble is my favorite contact management Tool

Optin Monster continues to reign as the king of Pop-Ups and Opt-ins

Freshdesk is a GREAT Support tool if you want a ticketing/FAQ all in one

My Typos were decreased by using The World's Best Grammar Checker  which is Grammarly

For Webinars I use Zoom.us

My favorite Affiliate Network (their new interface is AWESOME) is shareasale.com

The Last Episode of This Version of Weekly Web Tools

On July 28th, 2007 I started Weekly Web Tools as I was doing web design using Dreamweaver and I just started using Wordpress. I was my target audience. I was a person who wanted their websites to

Get more traffic

Convert When people arrive

Look Good doing it

Communicate better with our audience

I use to run into tools all the time, there were new things happening on a regular basis, and I could find great tools from companies (not marketers) and creating the podcast was pretty easy.

Fast forward 10 years later and instead of companies, tools are being launched by marketers who often would release a tool for a small period of time, and either pull the tool, go out of business, offer no support, raise their price, and in the end it was hard to find solid tools that I could recommend to you and be able to sleep at night.

My last episode was the straw that broke the camel's back. I found what appeared to be a cool tool, only to find to "Companies" who appeared to have stolen the code from each other, and one didn't work (its has since been fixed). So I spent the better part of two hours trying to figure out if I liked the tool.

To put it into a single question, after 10 years, I think I've found all the tools that I like, and I don't see a lot of creativity to make new tools that grab my attention.

I always thought I would get more input from the audience on what tools they used, and I did from certain people, but all in all, it was a very, very low percentage.

Plans For The Future

I don't plan on releasing any new episodes for the rest of 2017 unless something crosses my path. I plan on rebranding the podcast to be called "Small Business Tools" and it will be moved to a "when I have something to say" schedule. I'm also shutting down the Patreon account. I could switch to a patron account, where I am paid when I put out an episode but I've decided just to close it down.

I found proof software, which is a script that puts a notification at the bottom of your screen showing you that someone signed up for your product and how long ago.

The idea is "Everybody's doing it" so there is a fear of missing out tactic. The weird thing is their plans start at $29/month, and if you go through your 1000 unique visitors they automatically upgrade you to the next plan that is $79/month (you do get notified that you're over quota, and I'm not sure if you can shut off the service completely). See https://useproof.com/pricing

Fomo is a product that looks exactly the same except they don't charge on the unique visitors, but how many times the notification is shown (which to me sounded like a better deal). Except there is an issue, you can't order it (at least not no 9/28/17) See https://www.usefomo.com/pricing

There is a weird discussion on the history of these programs at https://www.producthunt.com/posts/notif

WP PRO Advertising System

Sep 5, 2017 09:09

I found a great plugin for $29 that is a super powerful ad rotation system, but it also will help you design the artwork. So you have all the things you need in one place.

You can sell ads based on

Pay per click

Pay per view

Pay per time

Group ads into a group and put them anywhere on your site

Trigger when a where an ad shows up.

This month at If you go to Themeforest.net

you will see in the middle of the page they give away a free Wordpress theme, free music, free Adobe templates, free 3d art and more. No shenanigans. They give away one free item a month

Stocking Up on Audio, Video, and Graphics

Aug 16, 2017 08:45

I came across a couple of companies that if you're constantly looking for royalty free items without breaking the bank, you might want to check out.

Graphicstock was not a concert in the 70's for graphic artists. It's a website with 380,00 images that you can get access to for $99 a year (kind of). You can download as many images as you want and those are yours forever. There are photos, illustrations, and vectors. You can sign up for a 7 Day free trial and take as many images as you want to. Check it out at graphicstock.com

With this site, you have access to 115,00 studio quality HD Clips. There are great looking stock videos, motion backgrounds and After Effects Templates. The price of membership is $149/year. Their website is videoblocks.com Here again, they offer a 7-day trial.

I love this site. Their sounds sound great. There isn't any cheesy music that was created on a Casio keyboard 9 years ago. They have music, sound effects, and loops. The interesting thing is most places will put some sort of beep or branding when you listen to their samples, and they don't. Their price is $99/year for unlimited downloads of any of their 100,000 tracks. Here again, they offer a free 7-day trial to download as many as you want that you can keep. See audioblocks.com

Envato Elements

This is an impressive amount of photos, graphics, icons, and templates for $29/month Check it out at https://elements.envato.com/

Discourse: For Those Who Want a Cool Group Without Using Facebook.

Discourse is a from-scratch reboot, an attempt to reimagine what a modern Internet discussion platform should be today, in a world of ubiquitous smartphones, tablets, Facebook, and Twitter. If you wanted to create a community and didn't want to use a Facebook group, this would be something would want to look at. Don't get shocked when you see the $100/month price tag. That is if you choose to have them host it for you. It's open source, and you can use the software for free - you just have to install it.

Stencil- Social Images FAST

Aug 3, 2017 10:51

is a cool website that focuses on making social image FAST. They have an extension for Chrome and Firefox. Once you add the extension to your browser, you can highlight a quote on any website. Click on the Stencil icon extension on the top right of your screen to add to the Stencil canvas to create an image. The quote pops into the canvas!

They are integrated with buffer, so you can schedule an image (again the focus on fast, and convenient).

You can create up to 10 images for free per month. The first paid plan is only $9 a month and for that, you can create  50 images per month from over 1 million images, 200K icons, 575 templates, and you can upload your own fonts. You can even create logos and watermarks. The Unlimited plan is only $18/month

If you decide to go with the pro account ($9/month) and you're If you're at all unhappy with your PRO account within 7 days of upgrading, they will give you a full refund. I'm assuming that is the same for their unlimited plan as well.

Take it for a test drive at http://www.weeklywebtools.com/stencil

This is a cool tool software/app. That allows you to share text, links, images super fast.Check it out at www.pushbullet.com

Bomb Bomb Vs Loom Video Email

Jun 21, 2017 06:16

I spoke about Bomb Bomb in a previous episode and recently found Loom. As the Bomb Bomb account, I use is $50/month, I wanted to see what I got for $0 with LoomBoth Bomb Bomb and Loom:

Integrate with Gmail
Can be sent via a link (as you end up on a page)
Both integrate with other apps (but Bomb Bomb integrates more).

Bomb Bomb Can:

Do a video autoresponder

Segment different recipients and send email

You can customize the page that people are taken to watch the video.

Can track if someone has not only opened your email, but you are notified when they click the video

Loom Can:

The page has a place where you can not only watch a video, but there is a chat box and a text box if you want to put links that you mention in the video. This might be good for teams.

In the end, Bomb Bomb has more polish. They appear to have more features as if they've had a few years head start (they did). If you have it in the budget and would like a video autoresponder, check them out. If you just want video email and don't care that the first frame of your video is awful (and want to kick the tires on the idea) then check out Loom.

In both cases, I've found video email gets great results.

Directory Tools and Advertisement Rotation Plugin

May 19, 2017 08:40

I was looking for a tool to make a directory of websites. To make a long story short, they are very hard to find. Almost all directories are created to help you find some address so it can be a local business directory or real estate, etc. I wanted something to list websites at Podcasting Resources.com

Then I remembered I had purchased a theme a while ago from PremumPress called "Responsive Directory Theme" which I don't feel is available anymore. They too have niched their directories into coupons, dating sites, instead of a once size fits all. I will say the tutorials to get up to speed, and the ability to somewhat customize the look is good. If you're looking to make a directory listing that is not zip code related, good luck. The PremiumPress Themes are $80.

Web Directory 2.0 For Wordpress

There is one thing that makes it easy to find something you're looking for and that is to buy a product, and whatever you are looking for will jump out of the woodwork. This was the case with Web Directory 2.0. It is an all in one directory script, and for me, I like the looks of it as you can turn off the ability to submit a listing (as I just want my listings) you can charge (but I'm not ) for listing. The only thing that would be nice is a place to have advertisements, but I can always add an advertisement rotation plugin for that. The plugin is $34.

Aparg SmartAd - WordPress Ad Management Plugin

This Aparg Smart Add is sweet, you can create video ads, pop-up ads, adds that you can put in sidebars, you can have images, code, etc. The plugin is only $30, and if you are a person that is selling ads, you can limit their view and have them expire. It looks super flexible. It doesn't facilitate the sale of ads, but controls the view of the ads. For me, I'm not selling ads on my site, I would more than likely put affiliate products.

May 2, 2017 13:20

Bomb Bomb Video Email Will Blow You Away

Apr 6, 2017 15:39

I've used Covideo in the past, but I had to go into my Gmail when I used it and change some settings that set off all sorts of security warnings. Their answer was to send it through their website. In the end, I ended up not using it and eventually unsubscribed.

I tried creating videos in Camtasia and uploading them and sharing them on a Google Drive. That strategy was free, but it took forever. So the BIG thing that bomb bomb delivers on is speed.

Their smallest package allows you to send video emails to 2500 people (unlimited emails and videos). It does not give you the ability to auto responders (drip), or create landing pages.

The individual plus plan $69 a month ($49 if you purchase a year) allows you to create landing pages, and send auto responders. It also gives you email and phone support. The smaller package you just have access to their tutorials (which are very good).

Speed Up Videos For Free

As I was watching the tutorials for Bomb Bomb at 2X, I was euphoric I had the Video Speed Controller extension. It works on any HTML player (including Netflix).

Clean up the Typos

In the past, I've told you about Grammarly, but somehow I was not using it to its full potential. Now when I start an email message, a Facebook post, a forum post, etc. Grammarly is there to make sure I don't look like an idiot. As I type this now, i see that I have six issues in the above paragraphs that I will troubleshoot before publishing this. It's a great tool to stop those of us who are spelling challenged.

Script Engage Automated Sales Copy Writing Tool - I Got Hacked

Jan 28, 2017 14:45

Maybe you are a creative person, and you came up with a great product. The bad news is you're not a sales person, and you need some help with your marketing. Script Engage can help with this. Here is how it works. You enter your target audience (the avatar) and fill out a survey about your audience and what your product does. Script Engage has Copywriting Templates that then take the information you've entered, and created great Sales Copy that is going to convert. In watching the video, I like the idea. I don't buy into the "click a button and it's done theory." There was a tool I looked at previously called Script Doll. This is very similar, but the interface seems a little easier to use (not that Script Doll was hard) I think the bottom line with tools like this is they well take you further than you would on your own, and then you can add the special details that are specific to you and your product.

Keep Your Wordpress Websites Up To Date

I let an old website die on the vine and it got hacked, which lead to more of my sites getting hacked. Here is what I learned. The site lock protection that Host Gator sells for $10 is good against "baby" issues, if you need a real person to clean your site, you are looking at $80/month per website. For the record Site lock's support was great, but I was not happy when I found out the service I bought was more reactive, than protective.

I ended up using Sucuri who I've used in the past. Their support is good, and it is going to cost me around $200 a year.  It's a pricey lesson learned. So always keep your site up to date.

I'm using manage wp for that, as I can login and update all my sites in one place. Also on my " do not use this anymore" list is bluehost. My sites are taking 10-15 seconds to load. When I get on their chat and wait 30 minutes, they are no help. I can barely do a post.

I've heard alot of good things about Siteground as of late (and I have my Godaddy Reseleler at www.coolerwebsites.com) If you use this link, you can save 10% off Managewp.com

I'm Tired of Todd Gross

Todd Gross is the new Nickleback. He was cool at first but over saturation is leading me to hate him. He seems to be THE GUY to promote every single marketing tools (and I understand, his job is to do voice over, and video work, but apparently he will promote anything - which I feel is bad for HIS brand). Today I play a clip from a video that is built on the backend of Facebook. Is sends automatic messages if you leave a comment. It even will switch up its messages if you leave two responses (cause people will never figure out that they are talking to a robot). My point is I know two companies now that have had tools that worked with Facebook (three if we count Soundcloud) and Facebook changes their backend on a regular basis and it breaks stuff.

Lead Pages is Now in the Email Game

Dec 5, 2016 13:41

Lead pages has now got into the email list game with DRIP its super powerful, comes with a clean drag and drop functionality (18 different triggers) so it so its kind of Convertkit on steroids. The weird thing is (apparently) you can't order month to month. There are no options on their website. You can only order annual packages. You can try it free for three weeks.

Easy Quiz Player - Make Lists Building Fun

This is a great looking, powerful tool to create quizzes. These can be text, photos, videos, scales, and order questions. It looks great and professional. The best part if you can (with the pro plan) keep track of high scores and have tools to let the visitors brag about their score and invite their friends

Then you can later export the names and addresses. This could be a fund way to drive traffic and grow your list. I could see trying it for a month to see what happens

Acuity Scheduling Is the Best Scheduling Tool For Consultants - Freshchat

Nov 8, 2016 08:48

I've used Schedule Once. I switched to Appointlet because I wanted to charge people for my consulting calls. Appointlet was $30 a month. It was a fee I would put up with to avoid chasing down invoices. Then I heard about Acuity Scheduling. If you are a person that books their time, this is HANDS DOWN, as in no contest the best scheduling tool. Here is why.

I can create multiple types of appointments (if I want to go there each with their own time constraints)

It syncs with any calendar out there (both ways)

I can customize my schedule page, and it embeds in everything (they even have a Wordpress plugin)

I can create coupons and/or products to upsell.

I can have a separate link for each appointment type. For me I have one link for consulting (which involves fees) and another for interviews (which are free)

It integrates with a ton of stuff. For me, it creates a client, and an invoice in Freshbooks.

It accepts a stripe and paypal (I'm using both).

The best part is all of this is $10 a month. If I go $20 a month I get reminder emails and text message

If you go to the $36/month they take off the " “Powered by Acuity” on scheduling page.

In three words. I love it.

There is also a free plan, and a free trial. Check it out at acuityscheduling.com

Freshchat Simple Light Chat System

I've been using tawk.io for a while as my chat system. It works. shows me what people are looking at, and I can load it on multiple websites. It also acts as an app on my computer. Recently the people who created Fresh desk ( a ticketing and support system I love) released Fresh chat. This is super simple, light and fluffy. You can edit the text and appearance of your chat box, specify what information you need before you join the chat. With freshchat they say "With contextual information available in Freshchat, you can make a decision to manually or automatically, and send targeted messages to the people who you think are interested in your product."

Right now it's free, and while I like the interface and tools, I didn't see anything that inspired me to move off my current system, but I need to kick the tires a little harder to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Freshsales.io Review

Freshsales.io is a free CRM tool. For me I wanted a tool that was a simple place to store my contact, and track tasks and this will do it and send me email reminders when a task is due. It also has a mobile app.

They have an extensive knowledgebase, but for me, I want a video tutorial that I can play on 2X to blow through the video manual and get to work. I know why companies don't do this.

1. English may be language number two for them.

2. They have to update the videos when they update the software.

For me, I found it frustrating. In all not a bad tool. I wil lstay with Nimble as it checks my social sites as well and does everything (maybe not territories) that freshsales.io does.

Thinkific Membership Site and Teaching Platform

Aug 25, 2016 12:00

Today I'm talking about a membership platform called Thinkific. I heard about it via the Membership Guys who run the Membership academy (not to be confused by Marcus Couch Membership Coach ) .

Here is my problem. I'm using Value Add On. I really like it. One of the reasons I purchased is was the price $37 a month. Their support is good. The bad news is you have to use JVZoo to accept paypal through them. JVZoo takes 5% in  addition to the paypal fees. This is not surprising as Thinkific does the same thing and they cost $49  If you want no transaction fees you have to upgrade to the $99 a month, which means you would have to sell over $1980 for that to make sense. So I plan on doing the $49 a month. So it sounds like a dead heat, but its no

JVZoo does something I don't see anyone else doing and that is when you setup a product that is recurring, you have to put in the total number of payments. For example if you purchase a three month subscription to the school of podcasting it says on the checkout page "Includes 3 months of service. Future Payments: $483.00 will be billed every  3 months for 18 payments or until cancelled." But when someone sees they might make 18 payments of $483 they cold feet. This is a deal breaker.

So I've been trying out Thinkific for a few days, and here is what I like so far. I'm using their free service. It is super easy to make a course. I mean watch 20 minutes of videos and you are off to the races.

I like that they have a built in affiliate program. They also have built in reminder emails for members. It integrates with all sorts of email, zappier, google analytics, etc.

You can sell individual courses or bundle them together. You can have one set fee, or a subscription.

The dripping feature is super easy, and choose what is protected and what is not is super easy. It works with Paypal, and Stripe which is awesome.

I love the student experience as when you get done with modules it takes you to the next, and always shows you where you are in the course. You can even put in quizzed and certificates if you want.

Here is what I don't like. When you upload a video, there is no text on the page. Just the video. There is no player speed, and I want to put links to the things I mentioned in the video. I'm also a little worried about how much you can customize the look of things, but I'm in the free version so when you upgrade you get more tools.

Their discussion board for each course is pretty ugly. No other way to put it. Functional yes. Pretty? No.

The key when dealing with a membership site or plugin is knowing the features to want for me it was.

Work with paypal and stripe

Make it easy to sign up and cancel (no need to email me)

I want to be able to sell courses one by one, or bundled.

I wanted an easy to use affiliate program. (JVZoo makes people send messages to their phone to confirm them. I like the security, but giving a phone number to be an affiliate seems a bit over the top).

So for now I'm moving ahead with Thinkific. If it turns out that the JVZoo affiliate will still get credit if I use Stripe, then I may stay there. Like I said the problem with Value Add On has nothing to do with the platform (I actually like it alot) but it has to do with having to use JVZoo. Here is a quick video

Designrr.io Review

Aug 18, 2016 09:27

This is a quick tool to help you make lead magnets.

The trick is to wait for the pop up window that provides a one time fee pay model.

Aug 11, 2016 07:49

Today we have a tool that saves you time when making powerpoint slides. Here are the pros and cons:

Saves you time as it makes it easy to find great looking graphics. Depending on how you have it setup, you may have disclaimers stating the images came from flickr. They require you to signup with a credit card -even for a free trial. You can then need to contact support to leave Support will then offer you a deal  When you export your files to PowerPoint, they are formatted in what I can only call a "non-traditional" format (which requires a small learning curve to be squashed).

If I did more presentations I might pay the $20 a month (another annoying thing, they don't have their price on their website). So if you are a person who is always looking for graphics for your PowerPoint, this could be a great tool

I later uploaded this video to Youtube and here is what it looks like.

Build an Annoying Site like Yahoo

There is a plulgin call Snax that you can combine with a theme called Bimber (get them both for $49) and Snax allows you to have open lists that your audience can create (so you get free content) and then they can rate each other lists (or images, videos, galleries) while the Bimber theme is setup to splash them in the face with Advertising. You can setup so that they have to go to another page, and another page to see the whole list (each time getting hit with more ads). For $50, it would be interesting to see what kind of content would show up, and how insane people would get voting for content.

More Tweets, More Traffic: Show Down, Social Locker, Contest Blitz

Jul 27, 2016 06:51

Today we have some tools I found to help drive people back to your site.

Social Locker does just that, it locks content and the only way you can see it is to tweet, share, +, etc on social networks. This plugin costs $25

Show Down is a Hot/Not Rating kind of plugin used for content or pictures. It's a simple plugin that can have your audience helping your decide on your next logo, tag line, etc This WordPress plugin costs $23

The Photo Contest plugin does a similar thing to Show Down (it appears to have more anti-cheating built into it) It costs $41

WP Contest Creator is a feature rich plugin that rewards people for sharing the contest info (bringing people to your website). It even shows contestants their standings as the contest progressive. It clocks in a $99 for a single domain. For me, most of these features are also in Contest Blitz which is only $19

Leadly Lets You Know What Companies are Visiting Your Site

Jun 30, 2016 08:12

Leadly.com sounds like an interesting service. It integrates to let you know how many companies from your email list are visiting your website. The idea is you can uncover a need at the company and make some sales.

I went to their website. I read their frequently asked question. The one question I had and I'm sure it's frequently asked is "HOW MUCH IS IT?"

There is no answer. Its free to sign up.

No thanks.

I hate companies that do this. Thanks for wasting my time.

Is Cornerstone the King the Page Builders?

May 26, 2016 06:47

I was emailing back and forth with Marcus Couch who is on the WP Plugins A to Z show. I heard him mention Divi, and Visual Composer. I was going to spotlight Visual Composer, and sent a message over to Marcus who then said he liked a plugin call Cornerstone even better than those two. I checked it out and it is super cool. Check out this video at weeklywebtools.com/325

You edit everything from the front end, and much like most builders it is HIGHLY customizable. This also means that there are tons of little nooks and crannys that you need to check out so you can get the most out of the software. The video above is kind of long, but it does give you a complete guide to the software. I live the Divi theme, but this one has my attention. At $35 it is quite the bargain.

Visual Composer  $34

Cornerstone is $35

Elegant Themes $69 but you get a whole slot of tools and plugins

Plugins that Make My Life Easier

This plugin does what the name says it does. No more going into each link to make sure the box is checked.

The other plugin I love is the Advanced Image Styles  why? Becuase it allows me to put in some white space around my images.

Clean Up Your Inbox - Find An Alternative to Anything

Apr 5, 2016 06:42

This is a cool site. If you find a tool you like, but maybe you don't like the price. You type in the name of the website or app, and it spits out an alternative to. For example, I just cancelled my lead pages account. I just wasn't using it enough to warrant the $40 a month . It brought up a bunch of landing page alternatives such as Landini, Front Meter (which looks really cool), http://unbounce.com/

Not sure where I found this, but I’ve been using it for my gmail based accounts for a few months.    it’s called unroll.me. If you’ve heard of this or already featured it, then disregard. But I’ve been using my email address since 2005. It’s been the ONE constant email address through domain changes, job changes and everything else.   Rather than try to keep up with dummy accounts for subscriptions, I just had everything into that account. I would get hundreds of e-mails a day. I love “inbox zero” and my OCD about it can be a bit unnerving.    What it does is you can sync your account from a desktop or iPhone (not sure about Android) app and it finds e-mails in your inbox that you might want to “roll up”   Do you need that mailing list thing delivered immediately or can you wait a few hours? It gives you a daily “roll up” of all those subscriber lists, etc. You can of course opt to keep some in normal delivery.    I have 75 “subscriptions” (sometimes just people who email me a lot) untouched, so they get delivered as normal. I have 183 e-mail lists i’ve UNSUBSCRIBED to using this tool and another 151 subscriptions that get rolled up into one e-mail a day. Sometimes you get 10, sometimes 12, sometimes just 1 or 2.   From a productivity standpoint, it is awesome to know that only the e-mails I want to come into my inbox are filling it and I get ONE email a day (usually in the morning) with the rolled-up e-mails.    It’s free and i’ve loved using it for the past few months. Inbox is CLEAN!

Email Spike Puts Video and Countdown Timers in Your Email.

Mar 29, 2016 06:45

Email Spike

This too allows you to put a video into your email that can play (this would be an mp4, and have a backup animated gif so if the browser doesn't display in the browser). You can also create a slideshow that you create write there in the software. You can also make a YouTube gif. This is a 10 second gif inside the email.

You can also create a countdown timer that shows in your email. You pick the style of the timer, the end date, the font size, font style, and copy and paste some code into your email.

You still need to create great content to get people to open the email, but this looks pretty cool. As I write this it is $47 and the creators say this price could go up to $200 at any time. So here again, a  company that has a scarcity tool is using scarcity. Shocking. If that works for you, then maybe you should use it in your emails by purchasing email spike. before the price goes up.

SemRush and Editorial Calendar

Mar 8, 2016 07:56

I was at WordCamp Dayton last weekend and these two tools kept coming up. The interesting thing is with SEMRush, it might be easier to say what it DOESN'T do than what it does.

In a nutshell, you can spy on our competitors, and figure out what keywords they are using, how much they are spending, and what keywords would be a good fit for you

The only thing missing from the feature list is a free pair of knives.
The price starts at $69 a month and they offer a 7-day guarantee so if you're not sure about the product, block out some time and really jump into the deep end if you sign up.

Editorial Calendar Plugin
This free plugin makes it super easy to plot out when posts will appear on your website The Editorial Calendar makes it possible to see all your posts and drag and drop them to manage your blog.

So with SEMRush you decide what to write about it, and then combine it with the Editorial calendar to figure out when it will be published

Easy WP Local Host & AdRespark Facebook Ads

Feb 23, 2016 09:56

Easy WP Local Host is a tool ($39) that allows you to install Wordpress on your Mac or PC in just a few Clicks. This reminds me of WP Siumulator which was $67. You can import your live site and start making modifications without breaking your live site. What happens if you break your "local" site, not big deal you can backup and restor your local site in seconds. When you get your local version of your site, you can export your site, and import it into Wordpress using the Easy WP Local Host plugin. Here is a quick video or go to Easy WP Local Host

AD respark Ad Respark is a Flexible tool for making Facebook Ads. Their video shows you just click a few buttons and it switches it to a banner, or pinterest, etc. I did not have the same experience. I had to do some tweaking as an image for Facebook won't fit on a pinterest icon (in some cases). I don't beleive they purposely mislead you, but it's not quite as simple as their videos show. It is a nice program with the ability to pull in pictures, and use their tool to check to see if your add should pass the Facebook 80/20 rule. I did sign up for one of the webinars and their webinars were some pretty heavy duty selling from their partners. For me, when you have to keep asking, "Are you ready? I want to make sure you're engaged!" How about show me what I signed up to see and I'll be engaged instead of 37,000 screen shots of how much money people are making on JVzoo. So I don't blame the makers of the software, but I would stick to the videos tha twalk you through the software and skip the live webinars. here is an overview video, or go to

How to Speed up Wistia Videos

Feb 18, 2016 07:58

We all know you can click on the fears in the bottom right hand corner of a youtube video and choose to play it faster. This is not an option with videos served on the Wisita platform. So here is the hack around it

Use Chrome and go to the page that has the video Right click on the video and choose HD only. Use the keystroke CTRL+SHIFT+J to bring up chrome's java tools Go CTRL+F to bring up the find tool and type "embed" there will be quite a few you typically want the one in the iframe. Click on the code for the video and then right click and choose copy link location Navigate to clipconverter.cc and paste the link into the box and click on Continue. If a bunch of mp4's show up, that was the right link. If not go back and try again When you see the mp4's pick the one you want and choose download.

Put Your Customers Journey on Autopilot

Feb 7, 2016 12:08

I've been seeing a new tool pop up on more and more sites. This lead me to thinking, "What are they using to do this?" When I was using YNAB.com the owner let me know the software had been updated. When I was using Audiometric.io I was told that the system would be down by maintenance. So when I found this tool, and found out that you can start using it for $4 if you have less than 500 contacts in the database - it seems like a complete no brainer. You can take it for a spin for free for 30 days.

Here is a video that shows off what it can do

Untangling eCommerce Fees: A Quest for a Cart

Dec 28, 2015 11:17

E-Junkie Has A Simple No Mess Setup

E-junkie has the ability to sound digital downloads via a buy now or a add to cart button. For $5 a month you get unlimited transactions and you can store up to 200 MB. As the typical Paypal fees are 2.9% +.30 cents per transaction. If we through out the 30 cents, it would be 1$172 to pay $5 to paypal (depending on how many transactions that would be lower cause 30 cents a pop will eventuality add up). You can have up to 10 products. The 200 mb is what causes me concern. If you're selling videos that could chew up space (even zipped up).

Selz.com Slick Flexible Shopping

Selz.com is a slick format that charges. They have cool tools that will stamp a pdf for those selling ebooks. They have tools to put your store on Facebook and other social media. For free you pay 4.9% + 30 cents for 5 products. If you go up to $12.99 you get unlimited products and you can customize your design. If you want a shopping cart it's $4.99 a month. If you want to accept Paypal it's $4.99.  Slick yes. It just seems like they charge for thing that others things are not. For $20 a month I get paypal, a cart, unlimited products, and a combined 3.9%. I find their system confusing. If I pay them their combined 3.9% do I still pay paypal their 2.9% With Selz you get paid via stripe which ends up going into your bank account.

Gumroad: Great For Software

Gumroad allows you to accept anything for 5% + 25 cents per transaction. This is for unlimited products, and unlimited products. The one thing that is seriously missing is a shopping cart. They do have an affiliate program. That is a little clunky as you have to invite people to be an affiliate (so it's not easy). They do offer a pre-orders function and if you're selling software with an activation code this is the place where gumroad excels. I do like that they automatically deposit into my checking account via ACH (or paypal).

Do it Yourself Plugins

There is a free Simple Paypal Shopping Cart From Tips and Tricks where you could use this tool with one of the ecommerce theme from Elegant Themes. Tips and Tricks has a very versatile estore plugin for a one time fee for $49. This is a super flexible cart plugin. If you want additional payment options that is a one time fee of $40.

Easy Digital Downloads

Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) plugin is versatile until you go to sell something then you pay roughly $50 a feature. I like the look of their site, and they seem very flexible. If I want to sell via paypal business that add on is $49 for a single site.

Which Way I'm Leaning?

After watching some videos on Lynda.com on Woo Commerce, and see all the fees that can come and go, I think with the right theme, E-junkie may be the way I end up going. It's simple, and if you don't have a ton of products, it shouldn't be that expensive. There is next to no fees to get going, and at $5 a month, it would take years to match the fees associated with some of these FIY plugins. I want a cart, and easy downloads.

Divi Theme Vs ProStyler Evo

Dec 22, 2015 10:39

Pro Styler Evo Theme

I recently learned about ProStyler Evo and I purchased the theme. It's a great theme and it's super flexible. It (pretty much) allows you to build pretty much any site you see you can recreate it. The one thing that caught my eye is you can easily add (or take away) columns, and then via drag and drop resize the columns. That was cool. At first it looks like a steal. For a limited time you can buy the ProStyler Developers License for only $57.00. Or you can buy the Unlimited Personal Usage License for $47.00. The offer has a 30 day no questions money back guarantee period. So jumped in. One your purchase you then get upsell #1. You can buy the Pro Styler Theme Pro Upgrade for $47.00. With this package you get the above mentioned color scheme templates together with a bunch of graphics. So the $57 theme is no $104. They even say in some of the videos that not having the color scheme tool can add a lot of time to customizing your themes colors. As downsell on the first upsell you can “just” get the Pro Styler Theme Style Pack ($27.00). Lastly you can join a template club for $27 a month and it gets cheaper the more months you buy. So the $104 just went to $131 ProStyler has a ton of options

I looked at the website, checked out their support. I saw where the Theme has been upgraded over time, so it all looked good and it is.

So I bought and installed it. The true power isn't the theme but a WP Glow plugin that looks and acts alot like the Divi theme From Elegant Themes. In watching the tutorials for ProStyler it acts and smells a lot like Divi.

There is one common theme among all "SITE BUILDERING - DRAG AND DROP - kind of tools. They have insane amounts of details that you can (but probably won't) use.

So on one hand you don't need to learn code, but you can get a shell shocked when you click on the wrong tab and see all sorts of CSS options.

Divi Theme

The thing you gain with Divi from Elegant Themes is more money in your pocket up front. If you buy the Developer's License and the Upgrade you are looking at $104 for ProStyler. With Elegant themes I can spend $89 a year and get access to the Divi theme along with 86 other themes and six really cool plugins to help you grow your list, share your site, and more. What I did when I saw the Divi theme is I purchased a Lifetime Access for $249.  Their service is awesome, they have cool forums, and I get my questions answered quickly.

Tracking Your Virtual Assistants Time - Great Free Stuff

Dec 17, 2015 08:38

Time Doctor Vs Rescue Time

I've used Rescue Time for a few years. It's a "set it and forget it" solution so that you can say "Who spent 14 hours on YouTube yesterday?". Rescue time is not really meant for payroll (in my opinion) but I've found it very useful. In the same way that tracking your food intake will open your eyes (or your money) Rescue Time does as well. Rescue Time is free, with an upgrade for $4.50 a month. Time Doctor is more for tracking a team, their status, and (and this is cool) it will randomly take screenshots so you can see what they are working on (Upwork has a similar system). Time Doctor also integrates with more systems (and has apps for iPhone). There is a free limited plan, a solo plan for $5 and then it's $9 per user. Here is a quick overview of Time Doctor For more information go to www.weeklywebtools.com/time doctor

Free Screencast Tool

Nov 30, 2015 09:42

I stumbled across two tool that you can use to create screencasts. The first one is called Screencast-o-matic and the other is Jing.

Screencast-o-matic allows you to record 15 minutes of video. You can record your screen and webcam, save the file and publish to YouTube. The free version will put a watermark on your video. I also found Jing which is from the same people who make Camtasia. This software allows you to create 5 minute videos. The files is a swf file. They used to have a pro version which allowed files of mp4, but that has been discontinued. So if you are looking for a free solution screencast-o-matic might be something to look at. If you want to go pro to allowed you to make longer recordings, perform edits, and remove the watermark, the price is $15/yr

Scarcity Product Provides Live Stats to Customers

Social Pop is a great idea. It works with sites like JVZoo, Click bank, Deal Guardian and others to give you real time statistics on sales. For example if you have a deal for the first 100 sales at a certain price, Social Pop let's people know exactly how many are left. If can let people know if someone else just purchased the program as well. It integrates with the different websites I mentioned and you can customize the way the pop appears, looks, and where it is positioned on the page. My biggest complaint was I set up a black Friday deal from Friday to Monday and the counter showed 24 hours. Their support was quick and really wanted to help .You need to be able to copy code into the heading area and the body. I had one out of two and it caused a conflict with Value Add on (which I use) so I requested a refund, and the gave me one almost immediately. I liked the product, and their support was quick (but I had a very limited window) so I didn't have time to help me troubleshoot.

The Quick, Easy, and Affordable Way to Create a Professional Logo

Nov 16, 2015 08:10

I've seen a few programs that help you create logos. This is great, but sometimes you are in a hurry, and that is where logaster comes in handy (for the record, I think its a dumb name). You put in the name of your company, or lead magnet (or whatever you're making a logo for) and an optional slogan.

Logaster spits out hundreds of potential logos that you can tweak. You can add key words to help you find and create the right logo for you. When you are done you can but a kit of the logo for $35 or just an online version.

For screen 1024px (png, jpeg)$9.99 For screen 5000px (png, jpeg)$19.99 For print and screen (svg, pdf, png, jpeg)$24.99

Find The Exact Influencers You Need in Record Time

Nov 9, 2015 05:50

I just discovered Ninja Outreach. This is a tool that allows you to type in a subject and it returns the top influencers around that subject. You can filter  the results on MANY different variables to get just the list you need. You can then setup a template and contact these people. There is even a browser extension that allows you to use those forms right on their website (more than likely on their contact page). No need to copy and paste, everything is right there in your browser saving you time and making it easy. Here is a quick tutorial from the founder.

How to Write Better Headlines Quickly and Easily

Nov 2, 2015 11:24

Yes I used this tool to make today’s post title. Previously I was playing with Headlinr as a tool for creating headlines. I like it. It’s a browser extension. This is an actual piece of software and it seems to have a bit more teeth. You can add words and additional functionality. It also has features to let you import and export Headlines.

The builder is where you type in a subject and it comes up with an insane number of headlines. If you like it you can copy it and paste it and use it in your blog post, video post, YouTube Video, etc. If you want to, you can add it to the “My Titles” tab and later come back and enter notes about how it worked.

There is a swipefile tab which has over 3,000 headlines that are used to create a customized headline based on your subject.

News Headlines

I liked this tool to see what is happening in the news. You type in a subject and it searches Google and Bing for that subject. You can select what countries to use. Again, you can copy/add the title and begin customizing the headline to be your own.

The More feature allows you to add in benefits of your headlines, a time frame and more and it comes up with more detailed headlines. When I use this feature it needed a bit of tweaking. I then used the help buttons and I learned I needed to change the format of my topics and it worked fine.

How Do You Know If Your Headlines Are Any Good?

Enter the Title Analyser to analyze your Headlines. These two tools work great together. You can created a giant list in Fresh Title and copy the entire list and paste them into the Analyzer to rate your headline based on research for what works.

Convertkit Email: Is This An Aweber Killer?

Oct 27, 2015 14:47

I've used Aweber because "serious marketers" used it. So I paid my $180 a year and jumped in. It is my fault, but I didn't use many of the tools that are there. They have automation tools, but in the end I have a ton of people who have unsubscribed over the years (again, not Aweber's fault). As I don't have a ton of people on my lists, I don't run into problems, but if you are having to pay more because your lists are large, Aweber makes you pay for people who have unsubscribed (but you've never removed - according toe convertkit.com's site). Until recently, you could not add a list to aweber without doing a double opt-in. In some cases (without using the list automation) you could easily have the same person on multiple lists and be paying for them. For me, I've been paing $15 a month ($180/yr) so it did what I wanted it to do - send email, and convert an RSS feed to an email.

I've wanted to start doing more strategies to build my list. I purchased Lead Pages, and purchased Optin Monster, and when I saw videos on ConvertKit it is part Aweber, part lead pages, part optin monster. The price seems a bit hit at $29 a month for 1000 subscribers (you can send 10X the number of subscribers). But then, if you're paying for unsubscribers it may be cheaper.

The cool thing is you can EASILY create segments of your list and just send (or exclude) them. I like this idea, especially for those list that I want to do more than send out a follow up email. Check out these videos from Convertkit.

Copywriting -3D Flip Book - Bookly - Learn Dash

Oct 19, 2015 16:15

Boost Sales with Better Copy

Ray Edwards is a master copywriter, and right now he is kicking of a course (that I have taken, it's awesome) and you can get a ton of content for free as he unveils his course. Go to www.weeklywebtools.com/rayedward

Real 3D Flip Book

The Real 3D Flip book is a great plugin if you want to have a magazine that people can flip through on your site. It's cute, but when it comes to functionality (actually reading the content) I found the demo annoying. I have to zoom in so much, that I have to then use the "hand" tool to drag and drop the page around. Great idea, great looking tool, but functionally it didn't do it for me. It's $32, it may be what you're looking for. You can find it here here is a link to a video

Bookly Wordpress Booking System

Over the years I've used many booking systems. I currently use Appointlet. It's fine. It's simple, and it does what I wants. However, when I saw the Bookly plugin I saw a one time fee and that is it (obviously you might have to pay for an upgrade later). This plugin allows you to have a staff, unlimited services, and in a nutshell you can customize everything. It is designed to look great on mobile devices as its responsive. I'm seriously thinking of purchasing this plugin. It syncs with Google Calendar (and that's about it). You can send text message reminders to your guests as well as email. Here is a quick video to show of how easy it is to use (there is no audio). The plugin is $46.

Here is a video

LearnDash WordPress LMS

This LMS is for the person who is not only interested in having a member ship site, but in making sure that they actually learn the subject. There are certifications, there are quizes, and all sort of things you can add on to the system. They have features like custom forums per class, but it appears you need to install BBPress for that (and I can never get bbpress to look anything but awful). It starts at $99 and you can find more information here.

P1 Targeting App New Powerful Keyword Tool

Oct 5, 2015 09:15

In the past we've mentioned tools like Long Tail Pro, and Marketing Samurai, but there is a new tool on the scene called P1 Tartgeting App. It's a pretty cool keyword app. It does the following:

You type in one word and it looks up tons of keywords You can then look at the competition around such words You can check domains that are available You can sort by profitability You can filter out the keywords that are less profitable

The pricing starts at $29 (up to $99), and once you sign up there will be an upsell for a content app, and (BUT WAIT THERE's MORE) there will be one last upsell for a targeting app.

FSQM Pro A Bit of a Disapointment

Sep 8, 2015 08:23

I was using Polldaddy to do polls. Its very robust, but if you use the free version you can't export the results. When I found FSQM Pro, it seemed to do everything that poll daddy did, AND it let your export your results. The plugin is pretty easy to use, I made a form, it looks great, and it has tons of options. When I went to export, I could export the questions - not the results. This is handy in the event you made a survey on one website and you wanted to duplicate it on another, but not what I was looking for. For $29 I expected more. Here is a video. It's a great plugin, but for me I think an additional $10 for the exporting option is too much. Their support has me jumping through hoops to get their attention.

There is plenty of documentation and videos.

CanvaKala Super Image Editor for Wordpress

Aug 18, 2015 06:13

Canvakala is a new plugin that allows you to do serious editing to your images without leaving wordpress. You can add effects like those in instagram, add text, brighten, sharpen, etc. There are even layers like in Photoshop. There are hundreds of images to pick from (you are pulling from sites that have legal images).  As I record this episode its $17 with a promise of the price going up (to what I'm not sure - you know the old internet marketing thing).

They do have a link to support which goes to a ticketing system, so without craeting a ticket, they have at least taken a step towards being legit. The plugin looks really cool. Here is the video demo.

Monarch Social Sharing WordPress Plugin

Jul 16, 2015 09:37

Monarch is a great tool for spreading your message on the Internet via social media. This is from the people at elegant themes. The more I look into the productsMonarch Social Sharing Plugin of this company the more impressed I am with everything they create. You can choose everything about how the social buttons look, how they line up, what triggers them, it's got an amazing set of options that allow you to be super creative. Technology Updates – Everything is Looking the Same

Jun 29, 2015 19:30

Today I'm sharing some insights about ThriveThemes.com as I explain updates about Elegant Themes (Wordpress Themes and Plugins), Digital Access Pass (Data Protection) and Gumroad (e-commerce)

Videos are at www.weeklywebtools.com/289

Digital Access Pass Updates

Digital Access Pass (DAP) is one of my favorite membership site tools. I LOVE their dripping feature. In the past you could not only drip content, but you could drip email (auto respond). The somewhat bad news is when you send email with your shared hosting server it may be seen as spam. Recently Digital Access Pass now integrates with Aweber. This uses Awebers API and thus enables you to bypass the double opt in. You can pass the password to Aweber and Aweber can send it to the customer.

DAP also now seamlessly integrates with Clickbank, JVZoo and WarriorPlus. Now when people purchase your product and get taken back to your site they will automatically be signed in. A rarely-mentioned feature of DAP, is that DAP lets you take advantage of all of these different Affiliate Networks and sell the EXACT… SAME.. PRODUCT… on all of these networks… ALL the at same time!

Digital Access Pass is a membership script, affiliate script, shopping cart, all in one. Pricing starts at $167 (one time fee) or $40 a month.

Value Add On Takes Stripe Usage Up a Few Notches

I talked about Value Add On in the past. The problem I had with my membership site wasn't protecting it, but the layout. After beating my head against the wall with OptimizePress 2.0 I switched to ValueAdd on to make the layout of my membership site.

New Feature: Paid Trials and Payment Plans Allowed Posted on June 25, 2015 in Updates

If you’re using Stripe.com to process payments, watch this video above and learn how we’ve totally re-written our built-in shopping cart to give you even more options to accept payments from your membership subscribers and customers.

We’re excited to announce that your ValueAddon membership site has been upgraded to accept even more payment options including Paid Trials, Recurring payments with an end period, and more flexible payment plan options.

By using Stripe.com and ValueAddon.com, you can create:

Paid trials Multi-pay options Payment plans Split pay Paid trials to recurring Paid trials to split pay and much more…

ThriveThemes Page Builder

I was checking out Thrivethemes.com A friend of mine told me that these were cool and flexible themes. I watched a ton of videos and they seem to focus on flexibility and fast loading themes. They offer a monthly ($20) or yearly ($147). that is for sites you own. If you want to put these themes on a clients site it's more. Their content builder is impressive. It just seems like I'm back in the 80's and I can't tell the difference between Faster Pussycat, Poison, Cinderella, and LA Guns. Different names with the same results. Thrive has some cool integrations to optimize your images automatically which will speed up your website and save you bandwidth. If I had to pick a motto for them it is speed and flexibility. They have lots of documentation, and videos. I was surprised that in one video the person doing the demo couldn't get the color of the text to stay white. While I appreciate the honesty, I did scratch my head. Here is a video showing of their Content Builder

Divi 2.4 Have the Kitchen Sink

As a creative person, I love that someone can draw me a layout and I can probably reproduce it with Divi 2.4 This theme (again another drag and drop page builder) seems uber flexible. It is an amazing theme. Here is a quick video showing off just SOME of the new features. Here is a list of all the updates. For more information check out Elegantthemes.com

Pricing for Elegant Themes is $69 a year. $89 if you want to have access to their plugins (which I will be covering over the next few weeks). Elegant Themes has 87 themes (and you get access to all of them for $69). I have been using Divi on www.powerofpodcasting.com and (as you might imagine) I had to flatten the learning curve. Their support was awesome. When was the last time you had three back and forth emails with a support team in the same day. I was impressed.

First Impressions of Fresh Books

Jun 22, 2015 15:07

I have been using Harvest for tracking my time. Then in another Excel spreadsheet I track things like affiliate sales, books sales and other ventures that I havefreshbookslogo going on. I thought storing the Excel Spreadsheet on Microsoft One Drive would make it easier, and it did. But report meant pivot tables, and all sort of stuff. It wasn't hard, but I felt like I was painting with peanut butter.

The price of Freshbooks if you want to have unlimited clients $29.  This is more than Harvest, but then again it does more than Harvest. I can track time with Freshbooks just like I did with Harvest.

First Impressions

It took next to no time to setup my company, my preferences, etc. It integrates with Paypal and Stripe (you can use them as a processor if you'd like 2.9% + .30). You can customize the colors, emails that are sent, set up taxes, and track all your expenses.

There is also an app which makes it super cool. Harvest has an app, but for me I would get notified that an old domain renewed and I would have to login to onedrive, find my file, now I just open the app and add it.

You can track pricing by the employee, by the job, by the skill. The best part if they have tons of little help bubbles to walk you through

Not As Pretty, But Not As Ugly

Harvest invoices look better, but that doesn't mean Freshbooks Invoices are ugly. There are little things that I'm still searching for like how to adjust my signature in my emails.

Support is Good

I received an email from someone assigned to my account. I emailed her two days later and I thought it was cool that she was out of the office for a few days, and another employee jumped into make sure I got a speedy answer. My question was what about digital sales (I sell a spreadsheet for Companies looking to hold their own Biggest Loser contest). I have affiliate sales. These are already invoiced or don't need an invoice. Their support explained how I can set up a dummy customer for "Affiliate Sales" create an invoice, and save it as a draft and then mark it paid. This way I can track my income.

Expenses Made Easy

When I looked at their free app, I was super pleased by its simple design that's going to make tracking expenses a snap. I can also track time if I'm doing consulting on the road. Everything feeds back to the cloud so it stays accurate.

Features I Won't Use But are Cool

There is a ticket support system so if someone has a problem with their bill, they can open a ticket. I use Rhino Support for my ticketing system. You can use a document system, this would be like your own private Google Docs or OneDrive. You can have administrators and staff each with different rights to different areas.

What's Missing?

I think the software will work for me. They have videos to show you how to track time, and create invoices, but that's about it. Their help system seems extensive, but I guess I was looking for more videos. They do offer beginner level webinars at many different times to match your schedule.

Super Amazon Affiliate Stores That Look Great and Earn More

Jun 8, 2015 09:53

I'm not sure how I found out about Fresh Store Builder, but I'm glad I did. I used it to create Best Podcasting Gear, and it was super easy to setup and it's already converting and earning income.

What Is it?

It's a script (not WordPress - but more on that later), that makes it super easy to create an Amazon affiliate store.

Top Features

90 Day cookie (instead of 24 hour)

Great looking Site

Super Easy to Add Products and Categories

Completely Customization

You can setup your store, but keep it offline (so when you flip the switch you don't blow your fist impression)

Supports all Amazon websites USA, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Canada, Italy, India, China, Japan and more!

Your products are automatically added (if desired) and updated for you. Your store will run itself

Is it a WordPress Thing?

If you purchase the Fresh Store Builder, you can purchase a Wordpress Plugin that allows you to run your store on Wordpress (this is great for those who want to have a blog in addition to their store).  They have demos of their sites on their website using their script and using Wordpress. I will probably be purchasing the WordPress plugin ($37) and moving the site to WordPress (I'm familiar with WordPress).

Headlines – So Simple Even Your Kids Can Do It With Headlinr

May 19, 2015 08:52

We hear it over and over and Blog Post Titles, Podcast Titles are the headlines to your story. It's what gets your audience's attention. The problem is most of the time, its the thing we do last. We are tired, we just want to hit post, and we come up with something "that will do" and hit post. I just spent a few bucks to get a tool called Headlinr that installs in Google or Firefox and it gives you HUNDREDS of examples of headlines. It provides a swipe file of some of the most popular headlines. So when you're tired, maybe a little cranky, and creativity is at a low, this tool comes to the rescue. What's the catch? Well they are going to try to upsell you to another product called Winnr which is a split testing tool. So now you can make great headlines and then use winnr to test and see which one works best (or you can skip it and stick with just headlinr. This is a one time fee ((not monthly) and I'm glad I purchased it. Here is a video of me using for the first time.

IntelliPlayer - Wisitia Video Functionality without the Monthly Fees

May 4, 2015 08:23

I've spoken about Wistia in the past, and I love it. I use Lead Player on this page, but what if you want an alternative? (Lead Player is not available any more). Well I found one that has all the functionality of Wistia player without the monthly fees. It's call intelliplayer.

The best part its (as of now) $59. for multiple sites ($29 for a single site). How is it so inexpensive? Because you will be greated with an upsale for more templates (so you can make your video in something that looks like an ipad, etc - some pretty cool stuff). You don't need to purchase the upsale. You get all the features without the upgrade.

For more information go to Intelliplayer

Video Motion Pro

Apr 26, 2015 06:10

There are a ton of Video creation tools that have come out over the last few months. If you can't afford Camtasia ($300) wait till you hear about Video Motion ($67). This software has the following tools This software makes it super easy to: Record your camera and/or screen Do green screen effects. You can edit on a time line You can upload directly to YouTube Includes 20 audio tracks for videos Includes auto updates. 30 logo animations (to make your own intro) I really liked the Video Outro creator. This is that shot at the end of the video where you see multiple videos at the same time with a subscribe button. It really makes it easy and the best part is it's only $67. Now they will try to get you with an upsale ($67) for more animations and audio, but you can always decline. They then try to upsell you a player. If you keep saying no, you spend $67 for a great piece of software.

Build Your Own Inforgraphic For Free - WP Scroll Depth

Mar 25, 2015 08:58

Piktochart.com is an interesting service that allows you to create an infographic. It is super easy, and when I played with it I would guess that it would take around an hour to crate your first infographic (the good news is the tool is versatile, but there is a learning curve). WP Scroll Depth is a free plugin that works with Google Analytics to help you see how far down your visitors are scrolling. You also have the option to track events of three different types:

Percentage: Percentage events are fired at the 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% scrolling points. There’s also a Baseline event which fires as soon as the page loads. Pixel Depth: Pixel Depth events record the scroll distance in pixels, rounded down to the nearest 250px increment. While the percentage events provide a relative measure of scroll depth, pixel depth events provide an absolute measure. This can be useful for comparing across devices where the relative percentage heights vary greatly (e.g., desktop vs mobile). Elements: You can also track when specific elements on the page are scrolled into view. On a blog, for example, you could send a Scroll Depth event whenever the user reaches the end of a post.

Pablo Vs Save As Image - Cool - Quick - Graphics

Mar 16, 2015 06:10

If you read any article about getting more traffic, they will say to include images in your posts. Today we have two tools that make great looking images and they cost next to nothing.

Pablo By Buffer

This is a great tool that allows you to create images with text, multi-line if needed, and you can add an icon. Their images are limited, but you can upload your own. It's free, and you can make a great looking image in next to no time. weeklywebtools.com/pablo

Share As Image

Share as image is more versatile, and it can be used without going to the Pablo site. You can use it on any browser (including IE). The cost is $12 unless you buy a year in advance. In that case it is only $8 a month.

Slack - Team Communication Tool

Mar 9, 2015 16:00

Slack is an interesting tool for those people who work on teams. It enables you to have all of your communication in one place. All of your items in Google Docs, Dropbox, and many other tools can be organized and made searchable with Slack. You can make a team, and then have categories (public or private so if you have different levels for team members you can have a category just for management). It's easy to sign up. For me, its kind of hard to bring team members into the fold (I can make it recognize an domain, so here again it is made for businesses - not podcasters). I was bmmered there is no way (that I could see after using it for 10 minutes) to make a page where people could go in an request to join my team (there is a tool for that it's call facebook).

It turns out that Slack is from one of the co-founders of Flickr. It has been growing quickly for just being around a little over a year.

The more I play with it, the more I see its potential. I do with they had more of a "step by step" video

If you're interested in playing with my Weekly Web Tools team, send an email to weeklywebtools@gmail.com and put the word SLACK in the subject.

Canva vs YouZign

Mar 1, 2015 08:50

Canva is a great tool for creating graphics online. They have an ipad app, and some great graphics. If you use one of the stock photos, the charge is $1. I recently made some artwork for a podcast that cost me $1. Now if I was a person that blogged frequently, tweeted frequently, and created youtube videos frequently, this could add up.

YouZign is also an online tool for creating graphics. It is (currently) $47. It is a one time fee. When I tried it out, it is very flexible, and easy to use, but the graphics that they include are more clip are than photographs. If you're making flyers, and such for the Church cookie sale this might work, but not so much in online business. The cute little cartoons might work in video, but my jury is still out for using them in marketing materials.

The way they keep the price low is they are building more templates and you can get $100 more for around $65.

They do have a nice preview so you can see how the graphic would work (for example) on an  actual Facebook page.

If you make LOTS of graphics, the price savings would make it a wise choice. In the video below I used it for about 5 minutes (so you may be seeing operator error). I wanted to show you the learning curve (if there is one).

Easy, Fast, Copywriting Tool - Script Doll

Feb 22, 2015 12:09

Today we have a tool to help create copy for your website. It's Call Script Doll, and it's pretty cool. You put in the demographics of your audience, you put in your product, and from there you can have it spit out sales letters, email blasts, video sales letters and more. It's impressive. It's not perfect, and like everything I had to go back and tweak some stuff as it is taking your input and putting it into what amounts to be a template. The templates are created by copywriting gurus, and I must say that after ready the first thing it spits out at me, I was thinking, "Man when I write copy it just sucks". I was getting sucked into my own product. As there is no "one size fits all" there will be some tweaking. Script doll gets you most of the way and you tweak the rest. The price is $61 a month. I can see some folks purchasing this for one month, getting all the copy they need, and canceling their subscription (which is why it's probably $61 a month). Now let's think about this. One of my favorite books on copywriting is by Ray Edwards. You can learn alot about copywriting from this book It will alos take you more than 20 minutes to read it. So if you want good copy, that you can edit (the program gives you your copy in a word document or pdf), and use on your site in a matter of minutes (not days) this is an impressive tool. There is a video at weeklywebtools.com/278   For more information go to weeklywebtools.com/script doll

Amazing Membership Sites in Minutes - Speed Test And Webgrader

Feb 16, 2015 14:30

Pingdom Speed Test with Website Grader

I found tools.pingdom.com to be very cool as it shows you how long it took your site to load, what slowed things down, and gives you a grade. The best part is its free.

Vallue Add On Membership Site Tool

I was using Digital Access Pass (protection and processing), Wistia (videos), and Optimizepress (theme) to create a membership site. Using those three tools I put out $624 a year or $52 a month. The tool I found is $197 for the first year and $37 a month after your first year. There are no bandwidth limits (like Wistia), and I can create a website in minutes.

Who Needs That Many Details

Using Optimizepress the good news is you can control everything. The bad news is you can control everything. In many cases there are features that I'm just not using. When I watched the video for this tool I was amazed and they have great features I will be using such as:

Progress bars as people go through your content (looks alot like Udemy) Integrates with Facebook groups Super easy merchant account through Stripe and JVZoo No limits on videos and bandwidth. The videos are converted for multiple formats and html5 complaint so people can consume content on their iPads/iPhones, etc. Great looking user interface with the ability for students to take notes in each lesson that are saved on the site. I love that I don't have to worry about plugins, and my site's speed. It's all handled by ValueAddon Valueaddon is co-owned by JVZoo which is a HUGE Affiliate network (so I know its not going anywhere) So far the support has been quick and helpful. You can allow downloads or not of videos and other materials

Here is a video of me showing the before and after.

Wista Video Hosting - Super Fun - Super Easy - Super Powerful

Jan 12, 2015 19:35

Today I started playing with Wista Video Hosting. This company understands their audience, what they need, and they make it easy to use and the have a GREAT job of holing your hand virtually the process. Here is a video I made showing the back end of wista. Realize I just stared using the service, and this is my first impression

Their interface is awesome.

Their support seems to read your mind and answer your question before you ask it. They aren't trying to help you make better videos (that's your job). They are helping you make your videos be shared (or lock them down tight) with a simple point and click interface. The one thing I really like is you can see not only how many times the video was played, but how far people watched. That is crucial. You can see if it was replayed. This can point out two things. 1. The video is great - and people watch again and again 2. The video is missing the point, and people need to watch it again because they are confused. I am really impressed.

Wisita Vs Vimeo

Let me say I am a happy Vimeo user. Comparing the two, it seems like Vimeo is has a split personality. One one hand they want you to watch videos on Vimeo, and on the other hand they are a Video hosting company (with tools to help you share, brand, and protect). Their interface is just not as good. Yes, the have help. It's not as intuitive. One scenario that might be happening here is I've been a Vimeo user for about a year (so I forget their first impression). It just seems like there are features I'm not using (royalty free music for my video) that kind of clutter up the place. Where is my call to action? Where is my email integration? These are  features I will use (and may exist, but I'm unaware - but I don't think so). Wistia has a great tool, and as a trainer, are doing a great job of making me understand how to get the most out of their product. After playing with Wistai for 10 minutes this morning, I'm going to be checking to see when my Vimeo account renews. That is another issue, Vimeo only allows you to order their Pro service in yearly intervals ($200). Wisita is $25 a month for the features I need (Small Business Account). This means that Wisita is $8 more a month (but I pay in smaller amounts over time), but if I'm getting more subscribers, I'm getting more sales, then Wisita could easily pay for itself.

eCover Authority - Great Covers with No Monthly Fees

Jan 6, 2015 07:36

Over the past month I went to fiverr.com to get a kindle book cover created. It was fine. It took a couple of days. It cost me $15 since I wanted the photoshop files. Then later last week I needed an ebook cover. Thats when I discovered ecover authority. Its a web based solution that I've seen other places (so they must have a reseller account). This one is different as its $37 ONCE. There is no monthly fee. If you are a person who makes guides, ebooks, software, or needs to show your product on a tablet or phone, you can make some pretty cool graphics with this tool. Check out the video www.weeklywebtools.com/273

Backup Creator - Plugin Rankings - Divi Theme - Canva School - Zoom.us

Dec 30, 2014 15:48

Backup Creator

I purchased Backup Creator and I love it and it costs half the price of Backup Buddy and I can put it on any number of sites I own. I mentioned htis plugin a while back, and when I went to update backup buddy I thought I would check it out, and I'm glad I did.

Canva Design School is a free list of tutorials to help you make better graphics.

Elegant Themes Divi Theme Forever?

Elegant Themes Divi Theme is super powerful, but it uses a TON of short codes. It appears that if you use this to create your website and later decide to switch themes, you may end up with a page of just short code (I need to contact their support to see if this is true). On the other side of the fence, the theme is so powerful, why would you leave?

Explaindio and Landing Page Monkey Use Video Backgrounds

Dec 18, 2014 17:48

For more information and videos see weeklywebtools.com/271

Update from last week. We got a notice that wplistbooster is offering no support and apparently has conflicts with lots of plugins. Thanks to Orlando from www.hablandodetecnologia.com (a podcast about tech done in spanish).

Explaindo Has Video, Cartoons, and Sketching All in One program.

I've purchased numerous programs that produce videos. One was a white board, the other had cool buttons and characters. Explaindio has all of these plus you can use video as a background and then draw over it, or use animations. Check out this video. Explaindio is $47 as of this writing.

Landing Page Monkey

Landing Page Monkey is another tool that allows you to create cool looking landing pages with video in the background. This seems to be the latest trend and you can get it through the end of the year for $32. This video shows you how versatile it is to use (almost too many options). They do have a beginner and advanced options so those who don't need all these options don't have to step over them. Check out landingpagemonkey.com

Create Cool YouTube Graphics - Wordpress Protection - Podcasting Themes

Nov 24, 2014 08:58

YouTube Channel Graphics CREATOR

Last we talk about some premade graphics, this week we have a tool that makes it super easy to create your own graphics. Its from the people who make the logo creator software (which is pretty cool). They've just expaneded it to be YouTube and yet you can even unshackle it and it becomes a non-specific graphic creator (pretty cool). It's $37. Here is a video: [leadplayer_vid id="5472359703B15"] For more information go to logocreator.com (aff link).

Brute Protect Free Wordpress Theme

This is a great tool that will reduce the amount of brute force attacks on your website. It was recently acquired by Automatic the people who make Wordpress. Its creating a database of people who are attacking other sites (and blocking). For more information go to www.bruteprotect.com

Cool Graphics For YouTube

Nov 18, 2014 06:16

Today I look at a package that is filled with great looking graphics for those of you on YouTube. Many times these packages are for the graphics in your videos, this one caught my eye as is also about the graphics for your channel as well. It's call the utube graphics Toolkit and the idea is there are over 900 graphics for you to use. It's not software. If you don't have any software there are tutorials that show you how to use these graphics with free software ware like Gimp (or if you have titles like PowerPoint, Camtasia and others).

The price is $27.00 and like most products, they say that price won't last long (shocking). Check it out at www.utubegraphicstoolkit.com (aff)

Call To Action Pro Grabs The Attention of Your Visitors

Nov 10, 2014 05:35

We all know that visitors don't read, they skim a web page. Well, a WordPress Plugin like Call to Action Pro can help drive your visitor's eyes in a direction that YOU want. The cool thing is the plugin is all drag and drop, and it incorporates some pretty slick templates. You have access to the Google font library, and every you make is responsive. It can be subtle color changes or completely obnoxious zooming headlines. Check out the video below for more information. For more information go to calltoactionpro.com

Uptimerobot Website Monitor - Hellosign

p Time Robot< Today we hear a snippet from the Ask the Podcast Coach show where my co-host Jim Collison talks about an interview he did with the folks from Up Time Robot. This is a completely free tool that will check your website and let you know if it goes down. I believe I've used them in the past, and its awesome (and you can't beat the price). You can hear Jim's interview at theaverageguy.tv

Swayy.co Shows You What Your Audience is Talking About

Oct 20, 2014 11:37

Swayy helps you discover the most engaging content to share with your audience on social media based on their interests and engagement. We give you relevant #hashtags and @handles so you can share better. Analytics show you what content is the most effective for growing your community.  - per their website.

Today I share my initial 5 minutes and come up with a "Meh.' It did turn me on to some new blogs, and I found some interesting articles. For me it would be great if it integrated with bufferapp.com You can tie it into your twitter, facebook, and linked in profiles. If you're stuggling to find content, this might be a decent tool (bufferapp.com also provides suggestions which I find good). The pricing starts at free and then goes to $9, $9 and up.

If I were sway I would have a 15 day trial using all the features that goes back to free if I don't subscribe.

Nimble Part 2 - saving on Wordpress Themes

Oct 13, 2014 08:00

See www.weeklywebtools.com/264 888-563-3228

Today I talk about why I'm staying with nimble.com (a great tool for keeping up on all things social media).

I also found out that the Total Wordpress theme is kind of a consolidated package of a number of plugins packaged as a theme. Yes, alone it is a good value of $58, but you can get some of these items such as the Visual Composer for Wordpress for $28. The other thing that I find annoying is everyone is offering multiple sliders. How about picking the best one and providing it for us instead of us having to dig through three different sliders to figure out which one is the best.

Mobile Tools To Increase Conversions and Grow Your List

Sep 23, 2014 08:43

We've heard it over and over that the money is in the list. Today we have a tool that enables people to get on your list by texting a word to a number. Another tool allows you to do full on SMS marketing.

Join By Text - Well Named

This product does one thing, and it does it well. You can provide a keyword and a number and when people text to it, they are instantly sent a message asking for their email address. When they send it, they are subscribed to your email list. It works with all the typical players (Aweber, Mail Chimp). the cost is $19 a month. For more information go to joinbytext.com

Call Loop

SMS MarketingCall Loop is more of a marketing tool that uses SMS. You can have auto responders when people text your keyword to a number . The packages start at free with each text cost .05. The keyword is $10 a month. I've used it for two days and have already had someone sign up and use a coupon that I had automatically delivered. If you wanted to you could also do a voicemail blast where you record a message and everyone gets a call (I hate these myself, we all get a ton of these around election time). You can also integrate this tool into your current email sign up form. By adding a phone field, when someone signs up for your email list they are on both your email and SMS list. Plans go from free all the way up to 99 a month with three keywords. For more information go to callloop.com

Optin Monster Review

Sep 15, 2014 09:00

Today I take a quick peak at optinmonster. This is a very versatile tool to help you grow your email liste. See the video at www.weeklywebtools.com/260

It seems everywhere I go see an optin monster box popping up at me. I wanted to get a good look. I was amazed at all the options that are available. you have an INSANE amount of control on how your optin forms appear. You can customize it down to the category, post, category and more. You can even set it to only show up on the SECOND time a person visits your site (As well as the expected configuration options as to how many times it shows up and how frequnetly it shows up). The feature that everyone seems to be raving about is the Exit Intent feature. This means that when you go to click on the X to close a tab, the option box appears. This is really cool. There are even cool effects you can use to have the optin come flying in with all sorts of eye catching flare. The one thing I liked about this plugin is there is a large amount of customization that you can put together, but I never had to reach for documentation (not for the record I'm familiar with wordpress plugin installations). The only thing that threw me for a loop was I had to allow aweber and optin monster talk to each other. So when I was told that (it mentions it in the configuration area) they had a direct link to explain how. This was an aweber thing, and not an optin monster thing. The cool thing was it took me next to know time to install, and create my first optin. You then get stats on how many times it was viewed, and how many signs up you get. You can have an unlimited number of forms, and the with canvas option, you have some very powerful tools to create some stunning looking optin forms. We all know what the optin forms look like, but what does the back end look like? Here is a quick video to help you. http://youtu.be/ilm5aQNz49M If your interested in optin skin, check out optinmonster.com (affiliate link) OptinMonster

Lead Pages - Oh Now I Get It

Aug 25, 2014 10:24

I went to a conference and saw a presentation from someone at LeadPages. It was really good without being a giant commercial for LeadPages. At the end of the presentation, I asked the rep if he had 4,000 email lists if you are giving away all these ebooks and other incentives for people's email address. Then the lights came on. You can have your list in Aweber (or whatever provider) and LeadPages delivers the incentive, and then adds them to your main list. This way you can have a ton of pages with different incentives, and still noly have one central list (or as many lists as you want). Originally I thought emailing my list after I gave away all these incentives was going to be a nightmare, but after some time with the rep I now see the advantage of LeadPages. Pricing starts at $37. I chose the $67, and there is a $99 package (all per month) if you want to be a super user.Check it out at wwwweeklywebtools.com/leadpages

Raffle Plus - Momentum Extension

Aug 4, 2014 08:00

We have talked about Contest blitz in the past which is a great tool for growing your email list, today we look at Raffle Plus which is a $19 plugin that allows you to create a prize and allow people to enter via facebook like, G+, twitter, blog comment, or email subscription. You can assign points to each action. When a contestant goes to the contest page they will see their totals. It's an interesting tool, but its hard to get a grasp on as the developer doesn't even have a description tat properly explains what it does (I learned by looking at the screen shots). There is no video explanation, etc. So for developers, there is a lesson to be learned here. I don't think I would buy this just because it looks like ti was designed by some guy in his basement  - because it probably is. Where a system like Contest Blitz  has a bit more pizzazz, and professionalism. I know Raffle Plus has more features (it will randomly pick or winner oyou can manually do it) but I would be more inclined to go with Contest Blitz. Check out Raffle Plus at Code Canyon Check out my previous review of Contest Blitz Momentum Chrome Extension This is a cool free extension that makes the default page when you open a new tab in chrome that shows your time. You type in the ONE THING you need to get done. It also shows your weather and links to a to do list, and apps. It's pretty cool. If you are using chrome check it out. It's free. Note to change the clock format, just double click it.

Fresh Bundle Master

Jul 29, 2014 08:24

If you are doing any kind of affiliate marketing through amazon, you have got to check out this plugin. It's called Fresh Bundle Master. It starts at $17. and you can send multiple products to amazon instead of having them click on a single product at a time.   Instead of having your visitors click one product at a time you can make a bundle of products that they click ONE button and ALL the products are added. There are cool ways to make this display, but in the end the ability to recommend productS is way, way, cool. Check out this Video http://youtu.be/5NV2t6FcQN4 For more information check out Fresh Bundle Master

Social Bro Free Twitter Tools With Very Cool Insights

Jul 14, 2014 10:54

Today I share a conversation that I had on the Ask the Podcast Coach show with Jim Collison from the Avergae Guy.tv Where I had told him about Buffer, and now he is playing with Social Bro. It's a cool tool that gives you crazy insights into your twitter followers, and it also has a powerful search tool for finding your target audience. I really liked who easy it is to see when the best times to tweet, and it also shows some great insights who the fake followers are, and which of your followers have unsubscribed. The best part is many of these reports are free.

If you want to go the premium route it's only $.13.95 a month (no long term agreements and you can try it for 15 days). The free account is free forever. You can check it out at Social Bro.com

Super Video Pro - The Most Advanced Video Display Tool

Jun 9, 2014 10:46

I've talked about video tools in the past like Lead Player and viewbix, but today I found a tool that I'm not sure how it snuck under the radar as it has everything you need in one place. It's called Super Video Pro and while I do not own it now, I know I will in the future.  You've made great videos using Video Maker FX, but now how do you display them? You can play self hosted, Youtube or Amazon S3 hosted files. There are all sorts of auto play options. You can create templates and then use them on all your videos. You can use a custom opt in background. You can choose what pages the widgets play on. In a nutshell it puts total control in your hands. Check this out. supervideopro The best part is that it's $99, or if you want the "Super Jumbo Deluxe"  version it's only $159 and you have some very cool tools. The list is extensive. You can check them out at supervideopro.com

SimilarWeb Peels Back the Curtain on Your Competitors

May 16, 2014 09:50

I heard about this tool from Michael Hyatt. It's pretty cool, its called Similarweb.com

I could write a giant blog post about it, but in the end it would take last time to just go use it. You learn all sort of great insights into your website (that in theory you can get from analytics), but you can't get analytics about your competition - and you can enter their URL and find out all sorts of cool stuff about them. You can see if what people are paying on their site, where there traffic is coming from. You can see how their traffic got there and much, much more...

It also shows you the top websites (which you can choose different categories).

Video Maker FX Great Videos Less Than $40

May 7, 2014 08:33

Everyone and their brother is promoting this tool, and there is a reason for it. This seems very, very cool (I bought it today, but I haven't used it yet). It works on both PC or Mac, and it's super cheap. It's called Video Maker FC.

Here is what you get:

240 Animated video slide templates (you can customize these).

20 Royalty Free Tracks

1 Year of Support and updates

Completely edit the background

It takes some of the best-looking examples that you've seen in other videos and rolls them into one. Check this out.

Enounce MySpeed Plays Videos Up to 3X Faster

May 1, 2014 08:11

There are some tools I spotlight on this show that I just have to buy and MySpeed is one of them. I can't believe how much I'm using it. What does it do? It speeds up flash videos or html videos (or audio). It also slows them down if you need to take notes. It works on just about anything (it doesn't work on Quick Time videos, but for me, it works on YouTube which is all I needed).Check out this video

If you're interested it's only $29 ($99 if you get the version that works offline). I can't believe how much time this is going to save me. Do the podcast a favor and use my affiliate link www.weeklywebtools.com/myspeed and I'll earn a quick commission.

Instabuilder, Instamember, Instatheme, Insta-WOW

Mar 28, 2014 23:37

Today we talk about consuming the show and another time scheduling tool. Then we get into the instasuite of products that I discovered after purchasing instatheme.

Betty Scheduling Tool

trybetty.com is a free scheduling tool that works inside your email. I looked at it, but for me personally the biggest hurdle of scheduling on a global scale can be a nightmare when it comes to time zones. I was using calend.ly and it messed them up. I tried timetrade.com and others. Betty makes me manually choose what time zone my guest is in. In some cases I have no idea, and that won't work for me. The other alternative is to let your guest figure it out. No thanks

Schedule Once is My New Solution

Currently I've settled on scheduleonce.com which smacks people in the head when they schedule appointments with me and asks for the time zone. It then emails then 24 hours, and hour and if I want 10 minutes before the meeting and it follows up with them after the meeting.

I purchased instatheme as it looks very flexible and it has a drag and drop feature that makes building pages a snap. It appears to have just the right amount of flexibility, without going too far to where you are overwhelmed by all of the options. I will be talking more about this as I get some hands on time with it.

When I bought instatheme, it was managed (big surprise) by instamember. This has a very cool interface for the end user. It wasn't confusing, and knew exactly what to do upon entering. I was like, "This is too easy. What a great user experience." When I went to the instamember site, they list all these great features like

Built-in affiliate program integrates with goto webinar.com multiple products, subscriptions, etc. Works with multiple payment types, and autoresponders Works with affiliate networks like clickbank

It didn't appear to have a drip feature. I emailed their support (once I found it), and got a quick answer. They do have a drip function. When I asked if you get a "10,000 foot overview" of your content and when it would be released, they sent a screenshot showing you did indeed. Cool. If you're new to dripping, this is where you create a bunch of content and then let it release over time. This helps your membership site retention levels stay high. Very cool. While there are a few features that Digital Access Pass has (like a dime sale, and stripe integration) I can now see where instamember is something everyone should consider if you're looking to create a membership site. At $47 (that includes a "lite" version of instatheme) you might want to check it out.

Instabuilder is a plugin that allows you to do, well, just about everything. Yes, you can make cool marketing pages with video, bullet points, it has great tools like a countdown timer, the ability to integrate with twitter and facebook, and a whole lot more. The best part it is also around $47 Please note links in the post include affiliate links.

Survey To Sales Boost Conversions Like Crazy

Mar 10, 2014 25:02

Every now and then doing this show costs me money. Why? Because I come across a product so powerful and unique that I just have to purchase it. Today's show (episode 239) is one of those shows. I came Across Survey Survey 2 Sale2 Sale (affiliate link) and I was like WOW!. I contacted the developer and he was nice enough to come on the show and explain it. I have this implemented at www.schoolofpodcasting.com if you want to check it out.

The Idea

You build a survey for your visitors. The more questions they answer, the larger the coupon they earn. Why It Works As you start to answer questions, you realize that the more you answer you more you save. Then when you run out of questions, you receive your coupon. As you have earned this coupon, you feel like you should use it. Thus conversions are going through the roof. If that wasn't enough, when you get the coupon you also receive a count down timer showing how long the coupon will last. This splash of scarcity is the icing on the cake to get people to buy your product.

Nozbe Task Management - Patreon Pays Content Creators

Mar 4, 2014 19:46

Today I point out a very cool task management system that not only makes handling all of your project a breeze, but it integrates with sites like Evernote, Dropbox, and Google Calendar. Here is where things get cool. You can have multiple tasks added by sending ONE email to a special email address assigned to your account. All you do is separate the tasks with a period. So it might be

.bring home milk

.text wife a loving message

.call you mother

and all those three items would be turned into separate tasks.

Nozbe can be used by anyone - you'll see only the features you'll need. Nothing more. Simple, uncluttered to-do list if you need it to be. And free up to 5 projects! If you need more, it's only $8 and up.

Patreon.com The Never Ending Kickstarter

Patreon is a cool way to boost crowd funding. You can get paid on a monthly basis, or you can get paid when you release content. There are people making some pretty decent cash. You can specify different rewards for different donation amounts. These can be serious or comical. I was amazed at some of the amounts that people are pulling in. They take 8% of the donation and you get paid via paypal (I'm not sure if you have to pay paypal fees).

My only complaint, is they force you to go to the patreon website.

FreshDesk Help Desk with Social Tools

Feb 3, 2014 10:10

I just discovered Freshdesk. This is a SUPER EASY support system. It offers SO MUCH. I was looking for a basic FAQ program found this system that not only does FAQ, but it provides live chat, forums, satisfaction surveys and much much more. I looked into it. I saw they had a free version and I had it setup in less than 10 minutes. I love that they have mobile apps to help you stay in touch. Right now they have an android app, and a soon to be iOs app (they do have an html5 version). Prices are not based on the amount of users, but on what services you need. If you are a solopreneur you could get by with the free version.

I love that if someone mentions you or direct messages you, you can pull that into a system and determine if you'd like it to be a ticket or not. - very cool.

Likewise you can set up an app so your private  support is on your facebook page.

It integrates with EVERYTHING so now you can not only track tickets but tie it in with your billing system (I LOVE THIS FEATURE).

The beauty of the system is it is hyper rich in features but they have a tone of documentation and videos to make sure you don't get stuck.

Countdown Monkey & Dime Sales

Jan 28, 2014 15:49

Monkey is a standalone web based app where you can simply login to your account and create countdown(s) inside your account without downloading or installing anything. Once your countdown is saved you are given a code to copy and paste into your pages.  Your subscription includes all future updates/upgrades and because this is a hosted service you'll never have to do any kind of updates or re-installs yourself (our goal is to ensure you never even notice them)

They do have some very cool features. Such as:

Just choose how many days / hours / minutes and your countdown will start counting down for each new visitor that arrives on your page. Smart cookie code means the correct time left will be shown to returning visitors. They call this evergreen so you don't have to worry about the calendar.

You can make date and time countdown timers.  Set your expiration to an exact date/hour/minute.

What happens when time runs out? You have three options:

#1 Do nothing (the timer simply stops)

#2 Hide (the timer is hidden from the page) and

#3 Instant redirect (send visitors to any URL on autopilot) - You can also edit/change a live countdown in your dashboard and the changes will be instantly reflected on your page (no need to edit the page)

This is not a wordpress plugin, although it will work on any website. You can login to your account, configure the look of your timer, configure when and how it will countdown and copy and paste some code.

If you are looking for just a basic Wordpress countdown plug check out countdown widget

Digital Access Pass and Dime Sales

I started a new membership site using Digital Access Pass. I had never used it, but I noticed they have a Dime Sale feature. This means you set a starting and ending price and then the price will go up based on a number of sales, the length of time, etc. It's pretty cool. I set up my Logical Losers Accountability Club to be $1.00 and the price goes up 25 cents every time someone buys a membership. I did the math and if my top price is $20, by the time I get enough members to make it to $20 I will be making over $800 a month. With this in mind, you may like Dime Sales. I did find a cool tool if you're interested in having a dime sale, but you're not needing a membership site (by the way you can now pay for Digital Access Pass on a monthly subscription).

Easy Dime Sale Plugin

If you want to sell 6 0r 600 units, no problem because EDS has it covered. Just set it to whatever you want. This is a Wordpress plugin, and right now it's only $9.99. It does one thing, and it does it well. it looks pretty cool.

It's only $9.99 t easydimesalepro.com

Push Notifications With Notice Software Solutions

Dec 15, 2013 16:16

Today we talk with the developer from Notice Software who make roost.me and smartloop.com. Both services comes from Notice Software which specializes in Push notification.

Roost.me is a free service and wordpress plugin that you can use to allow your visitors to be update via a push message to their phone. The nice thing about this is you can get instant stats on how many messages were sent and how many people opened the message. I signed up and had it running on my site in under 10 minutes.

If you spend a little extra money you can schedule your push notification and to make sure you're not wasting time of your readers you can geotarget your messages (so you don't send a message to California about your meeting in Ohio). You can also autopush via RSS ($29 a month). You can check out their site at www.roost.me

Smartloop.com is similar to Roost but think of it as an intranet push service (for businesses to push to employees). For pricing information about Smartloop see their website at http://smartloop.io

Dynamik and Weaver Wordpress Plugins

Dec 3, 2013 09:50

I found two themes that could be good for those looking to replace Thesis. One is Dynamik and the other is Weaver. Dynamik is a child theme for Genesis that is UBER flexible. It boasts over 800 NO OCDE features that you can implement. You will see in this video while that sounds a bit too flexible, they have it laid out pretty cool is it's still intuitive. The final price of this would be $80 for Dynamik, and $59 for Genesis.

Dynamik Website Builder for Genesis Weaver II Wordpress Theme

This is a free Wordpress theme with an option for more advanced features for $49. You can really customize everything and the different options are laid out so you can figure out exactly what your edits will do. You can find the free version by installing a new theme and choosing to search for Weaver II. The pro version is at http://pro.weavertheme.com/ http://youtu.be/CRs5fwOF9O4

EasyAzon Plugin Boosts Amazon Affiliate Commissions

Nov 19, 2013 09:59

easy azonToday I talk about a plugin I own that helps making Amazon.com affiliate links. If you watch the video below you will see where 1. It can take some time to search for the right product 2. Make the affiliate link 3. Add that to your website. Now I realize that its copy and paste, so it's not like digging a ditch, but it can be time-consuming. It forces you to leave your site, and lose your focus. I've been using the older version of this software and this year I made over $1500 affiliate commissions - and that's without using the new features. Here are some cool new features. 1. The ability to extend your affiliate cooky by 89 days. 2. The ability to add pop-ups from text links (which can add to clicks) 3. The ability to add just image links, just text links, etc. and call outs. These also have tons of options so you can make the type of links you want.

Capitalize On Your Global Audience

You will see in the video below that its super easy to capitalize on the global audience you might have by signing up for the amazon affiliate in different countries (I've been ignoring this option, but now that I see how easy it is to use I will definitely be adding this to my efforts.

One Price For Unlimited Sites

You can purchase this plugin (with some cool ebooks and video lessons) for $47. They also have great support. I know being a previous user they gave step by step directions on how to upgrade. I highly recommend it. Check out the video.

Why I Love and Hate SendOutCards.com - SCAM ALERT!

Nov 12, 2013 17:21

Want to turn your website into a greeting card? I've got an inexpensive plugin that can help. I also talk about a great service for sending greeting cards.

Your Website as a Christmas Card

wp_echristmaseCard and it has a lot of interesting features such as

GoogleFonts support for your text 10 sound files included 16 backgrounds included Handy panel of settings Preview in admin control panel Ability to write your own greeting text Ability to edit styles of text Ability to set a text position (in the settings and in preview mode) Ability to insert a link at the page or to open the eCard automatically Ability of the eCard to be displayed in fullscreen mode You do have to upload this Wordpress plugin via ftp because of the large amount of music files. It's $14 I Love SendOutCards.com But What Are They REALLY Selling?

I found a GREAT service that allows you to send quality greeting cards (with our without a gift) for next to NOTHING. I was AMAZED at how easy it was. Then I saw time and time again how I could make money with Soundoutcards.com I was thinking to myself that apparently have an affiliate program. I thought COOL cause I REALLY loved their service. It was super easy, super affordable. WOW. I accidentally purchased some credit for more cards thinking I had to be a customer to be an affiliate. When I was in my account I couldn't find a link to refer friends anywhere (there are links all over the website about money making opportunities). I got on the chat and found out the whole "make money with sendoutcards.com is a scam" if you compare it to your typical affiliate program. I have changed the name of the tech support person (who did try very hard, but they are shackled by poor policies). Chat session started at 19:06:56 Please be patient while you are being connected with an operator ... You are now chatting with Jughead Jughead:Welcome to SendOutCards! How may I help you today? David:Jughead, I just sent my first card, and signed up for the "Pay as you go" plan for being a referral. I'm assuming I get some sort of link to pass on to potential clients, but I can't seem to find it. Am I on the right track? Jughead:That is a great question. You did not sign up as a distributor so you will not get your own link to refer others to but if you would like to, you can provide them your sponsor's link which would be www.sendoutcards.com/theirID#. David:Awesome. Thanks I think thats all I need. have a great night. so in my case it shows my Id as rxxxxxx so it would be www.sendoutcards.com/rxxxxxx ? I see that is my username... Jughead:No, it would be your sponsor's ID number which is xxxxxx. You are not a distributor so you do not have your own personal retail site to refer others to. You would have to become a Marketing Distributor for $395 to get that website of your own. David:so to make money at this you need to spend $395? or at least $50? Jughead:Yes. Your account is just a customer account which is a user of the system. To be a distributor of the system and to earn money with SendOutCards you would need to join as a distributor. David:OK. is it possible to get a refund for the amount I just deposited in for future cards, and put that towards a $50 indie distributor? Jughead:We can't do that unfortunately. The points are non refundable. You can upgrade your account for $50 at any time but the points would not be applied towards that. David:so I've given you $31, and if I want to make money with this system I need to spend an additional $50 (not 19). For the record, I'm becoming very upset, and feel I was misled. Jughead:The $31 you paid was for points to send out cards. To become a distributor you have to purchase the Distributor package. I really do apologize if you were mislead by your sponsor but the $31 that you paid for was for points to send out cards. If you would like, I can stop your subscription as you did set up a monthly charge so that you do not get charged each month for points. David:Please stop that subscription. I thought it was pay as you go. I was getting ready to get on the microphone and broadcast and refer people to your service. It will be a completely different show tonight? What kind of company doesn't offer refunds? Is there a number I can call to talk to a supervisor? Jughead:I really do apologize about this David. If you want to cancel your entire account then we can possibly see what we can do about a refund but we cannot apply the $31 that you paid for points to your Independent Distributor package. I really do apologize if this is upsetting you as that is not my intentions. I am trying to clear everything up and make sure that you have the correct information. If you want to close your customer account we would need an Account Cancellation form signed by you. That form can be faxed, emailed or mailed in. I will make a note on your account to approve a refund once we have your Account Cancellation Form. The form is available at the below link: David:OK. I get you can't transfer my $31 toward a ID. Can you just refund it back to me? (and I'll apply it toward an ID). Jughead:Once we get your Cancellation Form we can close this customer account, refund you the $31 and you can then sign up as an Independent Distributor. (So to offer a refund, they have to cancel my account - anybody else think that's weird). I'm glad this was not able to happen as I would've absolutely lost it when I learned that I don't get a referral link (something I get for free with every other company) for $50. David:I want to be a customer, I just don't want the points right now. I need the cash more than the points. Jughead:Well we cannot refund your initial order unless we cancel your account. Also, earning money with SendOutCards you cannot do that on a Customer Account. You would need to sign up as a distributor account. David:Did you cancel my subscription? Jughead:I did cancel your subscription. (here again, Jughead did his/her job). David:Ok. If I sign up for an ID. I will get a link to give out to my audience, and if they buy cards I make money correct? (By ID I meant Independent Distributor) Jughead:You will not. Like I mentioned earlier, you will only get that if you join as a Marketing Distributor for $395. David:So what is the point of being an ID? Jughead:You can earn money and sign people up with the $50 package but you do not get the website. David:I don't need a website I have one of those and an internet radio show. I just need a way to refer people and get credit. So I don't get www.sendoutcards.com/theirID for $50? How would you know they are coming from me? Jughead:You do not get that website for being an ID. The benefit for being an ID is it allows people to come into SendOutCards and earn money at a lower price. We understand not everyone can afford the $395 right away so we offer a lower package. You can give your distributor number to your referrals but they would need to go to www.sendoutcards.com, click on Join Now and manually type in your ID number for you to get credit. David:What a racket. OK. That's all I need to know. WOW. I loved the card. I loved the service. I am HUGE in affiliate marketing and you could have a TON of referrals. I've never heard of such a program. Oh wait I have. It's call amway. Who can I send the link to when I get my radio show done? You're going to be famous Jughead Jughead:I apologize, I'm not sure what you are meaning by " who can I send the link to when I get my radio show done?". David:Who is the head of customer service, or more importantly "marketing", or new customer development. Is there an email address? They are going to love my show tonight. - I got my refund - The beauty of it is if you spend the $395 you are listed as the "Sponsor" of your customers. When they got to the FAQ page it's YOUR contact information (not sendoutcards.com) that is showed first. So you get to pay $395 AND be their tech support. WOW. You also need to be a certified trainer to get paid (per their FAQ). I'm sure this is to weed out "just anyone" being an affiliate, but it sounds like another hurdle to getting paid. How much does it cost to get certified? Well each year it can be as much as $200. This is when this really start to sound scam like in my opinion. If you check out their FAQ it sounds like a big pain in the butt. https://www.sendoutcards.com/support/faq/

Hello SendoutCards.com Marketing People - Kody Bateman

You have a great service, and I would love to tell everyone about your service. I think you have a revolutionary product. I think some of the wording on your site is not specific enough (tools needs to be "referral link). I also know as someone who promotes products through affiliate links (on occasion) I'm here to tell you you're missing the boat by charging people $395 to promote your service. To get certified every year (for a fee). You have to sell a LOT of cards at .62 a piece to make that kind of money back (I don't care how many levels of referrals I have). Then again YOU would have to sell a lot of cards to make $395 (so is your product greeting cards or the appeal of "Making money referring friends). This reminds of a little thing we know as AMWAY. How about instead you spend $99 on an affiliate scriptand let people promote your CARDS (not you money making opportunity).

Quote Roller Get The Inside Scoop On Your Next Customer and Increase Your Conversions

Nov 6, 2013 13:42

Quote Roller This tool is really cool. I really love tools that allow you to get in the head of your future customers. Quote Roller make assembling quotes a snap. You have a super easy to use templates, and you can customize them with a few mouse clicks. The proposal is web based. This means you can embed video in your proposal. How cool is that? How POWERFUL is that? Wait it gets better. Because it's web-based, you get can get analytics from your proposal. What does that mean? It means you can see how long your potential customer has spent going over your proposal, which means you now know one of two things. Either you know their hot button(s), or the part they are confused on. Either way, you are going to appear super helpful as you are ready to answer their questions, or you going to now how to push their hot buttons until they are screaming for you to pass over a pen. That's where things get even cooler. You can have them sign the proposal, and then pay for (and it ties in with your PayPal account). The best thing is plans start as low a $9.99 and only get as high as $24.99 for all the bells and whistles. You can try it for for 14 days by going to quoteroller.com

Clarity.fm Works!

I had my first consulting call on Clarity.fm it was pretty cool. The person submitted a time, I sent back times when I was actually available. It sent me emails and text messages when things were confirmed as well as reminders right before the call. I got off the phone and checked my account and the money was being processed (with clarity taking their percentage) and it was all good. Clarity is becoming a resource for experts, as I see they now have a question and answer section where you can flex you expert muscles to showcase why people should call you. If you're interested in checking it out use the code er227 and get $20 off your first call.

Rumble Talk - Customizable HTML5 Group Chat

Oct 28, 2013 14:00

Rumble Talk Chat WidgetI'm playing with a group chat system to help community members interact LIVE. The system is called Rumble Talk and it's $16 a month (cheaper if I buy a year in advance). Here are the best features: 1. Super easy to install and customize without knowing a bit of code. You click, copy and paste and you're gone. 2. Easily sharable as the system generates a QR code for your chat room that people can scan and share. 3. HTML5 means it works on all devices 4. Integrates into Facebook Fan Pages 5. You can choose to save a history of the chats and see what people are talking about (and export and post to your website). 6. Add your own "blacklisted" words 7. Create moderators with a few clicks. 8. Create a link to the chat room that you can share via email and twitter. 9. Free 3 day trial with the only restriction being you can only have 4 people in the chat. 10. If you have the skills you can do further customizations using CSS. Check it out at rumbletalk.com I see on their blog that they give you tips on using CSS and more. I've only used it for a week and I'm already getting idea for future episodes of my School of Podcasting podcast from what people are asking in the chat. You can see that in action at www.schoolofpodcasting.com/chat

Wordpress Themes Gameplay and LeaguePress Go Head To Head

Oct 21, 2013 11:50

Today I review two wordpress themes that are sports related, but could easily be tweaked to be a great network site. Both themes are (basically) $40. The LeaguePress theme can be as low as $9. Here are some features:

The both are responsive and have built in advertising spots. They both have multiple menus and built in social media links (although Game day has a much better setup for this).

LeaguePress has 15 built in home page layouts. Game Play has a drag and drop interface that allows you to build a custom home page.

LeaguePress has 9 color schemes. Game Play has Unlimited color picker for : Primary theme color, secondary accent color, primary link color and widget header color.

Lost In Features? Take a Look at the Finished Product

Wordpress Sport Themes

What I liked about the Game day theme is it seems a bit customizable (please note I do not own either of these and have only watched video demos). The very cool looking scoreboard on game day is optional. This means you could turn it off.

As a Non Sports Theme

I've been asked at times, "Why didn't you set up a website for your very own podcast "network." For the record, I have a website for each show and didn't want to additional maintenance. I could see taking a project with different subjects and making each subject a "League"  where each league would have a link at the top of the page. Each league would also have a section on the front page. I was really impressed with the look of Game Day, and while I realize that League Press could be a much smaller hit to the wallet, I think I would go with Game Day.

Bad Ass Countdown Plugin

Oct 14, 2013 11:08

I just watched the video for WP Bad Ass Countdown and went to youtube to see if I could get a video. There are a bunch of "Don't buy this plugin" videos. None of these videos had a bad thing to say about the software. Not a single word. All the negativity was about the marketing and that they might be a bit of over hype. So let's state what the plugin does.

1. You set a date

2. A timer counts down

3. As time counts down, the price counts up. You pick by what increment (a penny, a nickel, etc) and how fast (a second, a minute, a day)

4. You have complete control of the timer look and the price's appearance.

Currently, you can get this plugin for around $8.

What's the Flack About?

More and more developers are using their plugins as a lead into other items. In other words, when you buy this product get ready for an upsell. Here is a thought: just say no. That's right. Take the value of the low priced plugin and go back to your website and use it. Was that so hard?

Musicians have raised the price of t-shirts to make up for the fact that music sales are down (thanks to everyone sharing it for free). It's the price of doing business. Musicians want to eat just like you.

With people starting to think of plugins like "apps" for their phone the price is dropping. That's good, but developers have to eat too so they have upsells.

Nobody is bleeding, or dying from an upsell.

Pass On Ultimatum - Get Video Into Your Search Results

Oct 3, 2013 09:12

Real Drag and Drop Layout BuilderUltimatum Theme Sounds Confusing

I am doing something different today. Usually I talk about tools I like, today I'm telling you about a tool that everyone I know says they didn't like. It's called Ultimatum. I really liked it when I first saw it. I went over and used their demo, and was amazed at all the functions. I was also amazed at the lack of documentation. I sent an email, but received no reply. I asked a few people and the same response came, "It looks cool, but I could never get it to do what I wanted." I did find a course at Udemy that has a section on using the theme. Their website stats they have documentation, but with that much versatility in the theme - there could be a large learning curve.

Video Seo by Yoast

Video SEO by YoastWhy do you want video on your site? It’s really simple: video results rank more easily and have a far higher click-through-rate from search results because they stand out in the search results. We’ve been using it here at Yoast for over a year now and the results have been amazing with keywords for several terms jumping from page 5 to position 2 just because we added a video. Now of course, we can’t give any guarantees, but we know it’s worked for us, it should work for you too! If you are using the Wordpress SEO plugin from Yoast (free) this plugin makes sure you videos show up in the search engine results.

Pulse Notify Facebook Tool - Go Meet Now Felxible Webinar Software

Sep 22, 2013 14:11

Pulse Notify Facebook Notification Plugin for Wordpress

Pulse Notify plugin for Wordpress is an interesting tool that allows you to make very cool "facebook-like" buttons that connect anyone who clicks on them to your facebook page, your email list, and gives you the ability to send notifications to their facebook account (c'mon you know you look at them when they show up). Right now the plugin is going for $27, and I'm truly thinking of testing this one out. It seems super simple to setup, and I can see the power of notifying people on facebook and having them click any link you send. Check it out at pulsenotify.com

Go Meet Now - Quit Paying Too Much For Web Meetings

I think I've used every meeting program on the planet, but I had never heard of Go Meet Now. Plans start at $12.95 a month and only $1 a month for each additional person. If I used this plan and set it up for 25 people it would be $35. Meanwhile Gotomeeting, and Webex are charging $49 a month. Go Meet Now has the same feature set and has the ability to adjust your spending each month (or even a few days). Why pay for seats you'll never use. This sounds like a pretty impressive tool and you can test drive it for 30 days. You can even take it for a test drive (20-minute limit).

They also have a guarantee that your audience will be able to attend or you receive a refund.

Contest Blitz - Grow Your List With Contests

Sep 17, 2013 10:10

We hear over and over that the money is in the list and today we have a tool that will help you grow your list through the power of contests. This Wordpress plugin allows you to create a contest, and tie it into every email provider on the planet. Here is how it works. You have something to give away You pick how many winners there will be. When someone signs up to your list, they get an entry to win the contest. They are then given a chance and a unique link that identifies them. When they share this link and someone enters the contest the person who referred them is given more entries into the contest. You decide how many additional entries they get. The price is inexpensive as the truth is behind the scenes they are using this as an upsell to get you to join their membership program. You can do what I did, and take the plugin and pass on the membership site. There is an option where you can purchase additional themes for your contest page. The interface is super simple, and you can add a featured image and it will show up in the contest.

Save Time With Custom Templates - Google Alerts Alternative

Sep 6, 2013 06:25

Today's show comes from listener Bill Hutchinson who sent this over:

Simple Post Templates

"I have recently started to use the "Simple Post Templates" plugin for WordPress to help with my posting of podcasts. Using it I have created a template for my episodes, including my introduction, closing, and contact information." - Bill Hutchinson

This took me all of three minutes to figure out. If there are things you want on every page, you can create a page with all the things you want. Then Save it as a template. Then when you create a new post, you will have a "Load Template" button in the upper right hand corner. When you click on the drop down list and load the template, all the text you previously entered and you can start from there and edit it.

If you have certain pages that always follow a certain format, you can use this tool to save you a ton of time.

Love it Pro Wordpress Plugin - Get Popular with Pulse Hover

Jul 30, 2013 07:05

Be More Productive Episode

Jul 2, 2013 13:51

Today I have three free tools to help you be more productive. The first one is an add-on for Chrome (Stay Focused) the other is an app for iOs devices (30/30) and the last is Hoot Suite which was primarily a twitter client but now handles so much more from one interface.

Links can be found at www.weeklywebtools.com/195

Stay Focused

This is a cool tool that can help those who are struggling with self-control. You can set a time of how long you can use websites on a blocked list, then once that time is up - no more (until a certain amount of productive time has been reached). It's pretty flexible. In the end, it still boils down to you (as you can always pull up Firefox, etc). It is a fun tool to help you stay focused.

30/30 App for iOs

This is like a to-do list on steroids. The idea being 30 minutes of work followed by 30 minutes of rest. This helps you stay focused to get done in 30 minutes, and the 30-minute break gives your brain a break and you get to relax. You can set up your own intervals if you'd rather go 40/20, etc. You can have an extensive list of tasks. There is a slight learning curve due to its high rate of flexibility but it's pretty easy to figure out. It then reminds you when its time to go on break etc.

Google Hangout Wordpress Plugin Takes the Pain Out of Hangouts

Jun 4, 2013 06:50

If you've ever used Google Hanougouts On Air, you know they are a great way to broadcast live for free. they have some great tools like chat, screen sharing, etc. That's the good news. When it comes to setting up, and launching a Google Hangout there are a lot of hurdles to jump over, and T's to cross, etc (see my playlist). Well, I just found out about a cool plugin that simplifies everything and turns your Google Hangout into a lead generating tools. It's called Google hangout Plugin

The plugin adds all the things that Google Hangouts On Air is missing:

•Plug 'N Play simplicity - setup hangouts in 5 steps from your Wordpress dashboard. •Provide Full Registration Facility - Hangouts have been missing the ability to set a date and send registrations to the page - capturing leads. (Hangout plugin integrates with major autoresponders instantly too!) •Provide reminder emails - Send emails to registered event attendees - making sure that the people don't MISS the hangout - getting more people to the event on time. •Allow Registered Leads To Be Exported - One click into csv files •Maintain complete BRANDING Control - This is massive - because the Hangout plugin embeds the hangout into YOUR site, the person is watching via youtube as you live stream the event, but the branding is all controlled by the site. (huge!!) •Follow Up Email System Built In - After the event, send people automatic to thank you emails and links to the replay (automatically done by youtube)

Quit Paying Monthly Fees For Webinars

Instead of spending $99 for GotoWebinar, or $49 for GoToMeeting, or Meeting Burner, etc. You can have all that functionality with NO MONTHLY FEES. The website says its only going to be $27 until 6/5/2013 Check it out at www.hangoutplugin.com

Office AutoPilot Vs Infusionsoft

May 1, 2013 15:03

When it comes to business automation there are two tools that are going head to head. One is infusionsoft (sometimes called "consufionsoft") and the other one that I hear about is Office AutoPilot. Both are $300. Both (I'm sure) require some time spent learning the system. With Office Autopilot there’s a money back guarantee if you don’t like it. Not so with Infusionsoft. That could be an expensive mistake if you don't like it. Without using either one of these, I know from being a technical trainer that it doesn't do any good to buy a tool if you don't go through the process of learning the software. I'm amazed at how many people use tools like Microsoft Excel on a daily basis and are unaware of the tips and tricks that could improve their productivity on a daily basis.

From what I've found on the internet here are the areas where Office AutoPilot beat out Infusion soft:

High volume emailer (OAP allows for personal IP addresses) New to online marketing (OAP is easier to learn) New to marketing in general (Get free campaigns that are done for you) Need a bit more hand holding (without extra cost)

Areas where Office Auto Pilot is not as good as Infusionsoft:

Your product or service is Business to Business. Office AutoPilot is not “business aware” meaning businesses are not factored into their CRM, only people. You need or want a multi-product store where people can add several products to a shopping cart. You feel like you must have the visual designing capabilities of the Infusionsoft Campaign Builder to be successful.

Infusionsoft seems better if you:

Dependent upon a visual campaign builder Wanting big events and community to support your

Stay Away from Infusionsoft if you:

You need personal help to succeed and don’t have the budget to pay for that help. You get overwhelmed very easily with technology (Infusionsoft is intimidating).

Here is a great video (kind of funny) that pretty much explains a scenario that we've all been through.
