Ep. 130 - John Joseph Part 2. Cro-Mags "JM". Bloodclot! Ironman Athlete. Author.

Nov 11, 2019 01:20:17

Me and Bloodclot are back ova here now! The long overdue second installment with the homie... the O.G. John Joseph. We recorded for the first time, ninety episodes prior to this one. We met in midtown Manhattan to catch up on what he's doing; which is always a lot. Always fun to talk to and always has a lot to say. Since part one, he released his book "The PMA Effect", he does his series on Youtube, "The Hard Truth", he's in the middle of putting together a cookbook and is also in the middle of reforming and releasing new "Bloodclot" music! We talk a bunch smack on this one. Enjoy this!

Ep. 129 - Locked Inside. New York City Straight Edge Hardcore.

Nov 4, 2019 01:31:59

Ed McKirdy and Hugo Fitzgerald... Singer and guitarist for New York City Straight Edge Hardcore band "Locked Inside" join me on this episode of the podcast. We met up in midtown Manhattan to speak about the band, it's formation, what they're up to now and what they have coming up in the future. After a couple places to record fell through, we settled into the upstairs portion of an Indian restaurant. We talk everything from "Youth Of Today", "Judge", the beginning of New York Hardcore as a whole and the resurgence of the actual birthplace of the movement; the legendary "A7" on the Lower East Side and what Drew Stone has been doing there with his "Return to the NYHC Roots" shows. Support these guys!

Ep. 128 - Actor: Craig Thomas Rivela.

Oct 28, 2019 01:19:45

I had a great conversation with Brooklyn born actor, Craig Thomas Rivela. We met up at the Bath Beach Diner in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn to talk about things. I was a bit late to the party but I recently got turned onto the 8-part AMC Mini-Series "The Making Of The Mob: New York" from 2015 on Amazon Prime. Craig portrayed Mob boss Vito Genovese. That is the first time I've heard of him. The show was so well done that I started researching the actors. I hit him up and he was more than happy to come onto the podcast. Especially because, next week, on November 5th, his newest movie, "Bare Knuckle Brawler" gets released. The film also stars Martin Kove ("The Karate Kid I, II and III", "Rambo: First Blood Part II", "Wyatt Earp" and a ton more) and the iconic Danny Trejo. ("Machete", "Heat", "Anaconda", "Blood In, Blood Out" and a ton more as well) It turns out we have similar mutual friends and was actually in a hardcore band. Who knew. I hope you enjoy this. Thanks as always for the continued support.

Bonus Mini Episode - Craig from The Horror & Sci-Fi Prop Preservation Association.

Oct 23, 2019 00:07:35

Recorded Live from the "New Jersey Horror Con & Film Festival" at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. While at the convention, I came across a booth that had a unique set up from any of the conventions that I usually attend. I had a short conversation with Craig, one of their curators, about what The HSPPA does. If you're a fan of movies, whether it's Horror, Science Fiction, television shows or Pop Culture in general, you'll probably find what they do interesting. The are a non-profit organization that obtains legitimae props from a lot of your favorite movies and they travel from con to con just so you can see them in person and handle some of them yourself. From an actual screen used piece of the Death Star in the original "Star Wars", to Wolverine's "Claws" from an "X-Men" movie to Harry Potter's wand to the orange jumpsuits used in the prison in "The Human Centipede 3" to a screen used container from "The Stuff". To find out more about them, just search them on Facebook and Instagram at "The HSPPA". I'm glad I stopped to talk with Craig. Hopefully we'll meet up at some point to do a full episode. Enjoy!

Ep. 127 - Ricky Powell: Photographer. The Joint Chief Of Snaps. The Lazy Hustler.

Oct 21, 2019 01:27:17

The Funky Uncle Sloppy... the "individualist"... Ricky Powell. I met up with the legendary photographer on West 8th Street in the West Village at Evas Kitchen to talk that nonsense. He tells the story of how he got his first camera, after being "played like a wet tuna sandwich" and the reasoning behind him deciding to take to the streets to take photos. His early days as a kid, meeting the "Beastie Boys" and going on the road with them and "Run DMC" on the "Raising Hell" Tour. From his public access television show, "Rappin' with The Rickster" to photographing people like Cindy Crawford, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Mike Tyson, Eazy-E, Laurence Fishburn, Dondi and countless others along with the the six books he's put out and so much in between while "crunching on a crispy knish". This was awesome to do. There will be a part two I'm sure and possibly more than that. I hope you enjoy this one!

Bonus Mini Episode - Rob Mello: Happy Death Day 1 & 2. Fear The Walking Dead.

Oct 16, 2019 00:11:15

Recorded Live from the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey at the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival. I had the opportunity to sit and chat for a few minutes with actor, Rob Mello. Known mostly for his role as the killer "John Tombs" from "Happy Death Day" and "Happy Death Day 2U". He was also in "Fear The Walking Dead" and several other films and short films. Really nice guy who I wish nothing but the best for. I hope you enjoy this short, off the cuff mini episode. Thanks for the support.

Ep. 126 - Iván Murillo: Skarhead. Manipulate. Unforgiven. Dead Wrong.

Oct 14, 2019 01:24:50

I met up with Iván Murillo on the Upper East Side of NYC to talk about his history coming up in the Connecticut Hardcore scene then making his way into New York City. From his early bands into "Dead Wrong" and "Unforgiven" to the beautiful and awesome story of how he became a part of "Skarhead" and the reasoning behind him going to Colombia with them, into his latest band, "Manipulate". He's also working with Jay Reason on getting bands up onto streaming platforms who are currently unavailable. He's a super nice guy who's easy to talk to with great stories. I have nothing but respect for the man. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

Ep. 125 - This Is Real, This Is Ill Street News.

Oct 7, 2019 01:22:54

I took a ride out to the Philadelphia area and linked up with the three guys who bring you The Ill Street News Podcast every week. This has been a long time coming, but it finally happened. I sat down with Tim Anderson Jr., Adam Schmidt and Mike Tornello at Adam's house and chopped it up for a little while. It's a bit chaotic and all over the place in typical Blast Furnace fashion but then I sort of get everyone on track and try to learn more about these guys on a more personal level. It gets very serious for a bit, then gets ridiculous all over again. This was a lot of fun. Support these guys and their podcast. They definitely deserve it. Much respect. Enjoy.

Ep. 124 - JD BTW: Legendary NYC Graffiti Writer.

Sep 30, 2019 01:08:59

From the late 80's to the late 90's, retiring in 2000... you most likely have seen "JD BTW" thrown up all over New York City alongside JA, SET and a bunch of other graff legends. JD definitely made a mark in the city during his decade long run throwing his name up alongside highways, billboards, trains, trucks and wherever else he can get to. He invited me to his house in Forest Hills to talk about graffiti amongst a bunch of other things. His love of traveling and flying drones. Definitely a cool experience. One of the people that I've had on the podcast that i never even thought I'd meet in person, nevermind hang out and have a cool conversation with. Hope you enjoy this. Respect.

Ep. 123 - Joe "Hardcore" McKay. This Is Hardcore. Philly HC Shows. Shattered Realm.

Sep 23, 2019 01:27:40

I've been wanting to sit down and chop it up with Joe Hardcore for a while now. I'm glad I finally had the opportunity. We sat down over a cup of coffee in Fishtown, a neighborhood in Philly. We talk everything from him growing up in Kensington to the annual This Is Hardcore Fest, in which, in my opinion is the best hardcore festival in the states. We touch on his upbringing and what pointed him in the direction of the hardcore scene, booking shows. An intelligent guy who's an avid reader, BBJ student, modern medieval fighter and singer for Shattered Realm. Much respect to him, Chris "X" Striegel and his team who put together shows constantly in Philly. Thanks again Joe. Respect.

Ep. 122 - Shlak! Deathmatch Wrestler. Tattoo Artist. Crackhouse.

Sep 16, 2019 01:22:48

Guns Don't Kill People... Shlak Kills People! Probably the most "over" deathmatch wrestler in the United States. He's been wrestling for over 20 years and his first match ever had tables, ladders and chairs involved. Light tubes, glass, thumb tacks, barbed wire, tables, chairs, filing cabinets, forks... you name it, he's been involved in matches with it. Broken bones, teeth, stitches, hospital visits as well. We get into some of his crazy stories. We also talk about his past bands, "Call the Paramedics" and "Eat the Turnbuckle" as well as his newest band, "Crackhouse". He's even an extremely talented tattoo artist currently working at Black Vulture in the Fishtown area of Philadelphia. This was a lot of fun. One of my favorites actually. No God, Only Shlak! Enjoy.

Bonus Mini Episode - Jason Brooks: Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th: Vengeance.

Sep 11, 2019 00:08:17

I caught up with Jason Brooks at "Creature Feature Weekend" at the Wyndham Hotel in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I wanted to talk about his role as Jason Voorhees in the upcoming film, "Friday the 13th: Vengeance". Being a huge Friday the 13th fan, I've been following this movies' progress. Premiering on Friday, September 13th 2019 at the Blairstown Museum Theater in Blairstown, N.J. Really nice guy and I wish nothing but success to him and this film. Enjoy. Rest in Peace Steve Dash.

Ep. 121 - Ron Grimaldi: Deathcycle. Long Island Hardcore Staple.

Sep 9, 2019 01:51:02

Ron Grimaldi... a Long Island Hardcore staple, the singer for Deathcycle, Sonic Poison, Faithless, he played drums for a minute in Kill Your Idols. But... this episode is so much more than that. We talk government. Not politics. Government, the state of the world and where he thinks we're headed. We talk about why he still has a flip phone and he even wants to part ways with that. I can't say this is a "conspiracy theory" episode, because there's evidence for everything we discuss. Some might think we both sound crazy... I doubt either of us are if that's what you think we sound like. Dive into this episode with an open mind. I loved doing this one. I hope you do as well. Respect.

Bonus Mini Episode - This Guy Vinny Ova Here.

Sep 4, 2019 00:23:56

On this Bonus Mini Episode, I speak for a few minutes and tell a couple of ridiculous stories with one of my best friends. I've known this guy since '93 or '94. He has been with me through some really insane and even more fun times. It's great to have his 2 daughters grow up and be best friends with my daughter. One of the funniest guys I've ever met. Solid guy. This Guy Vinny Ova Heeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaa'!!!

Aug 26, 2019 01:16:33

The Final "Back To School Jam" is happening on Saturday, September 7th at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City! I met up with Greg Falchetto, the man responsible for this show to speak about it. We go into the entire line ip and also bring it back to his early days in the hardcore scene in New Jersey. From the formation of his former band "The Mongoloids" and into "World Demise". We also discuss his role every year in the annual "This Is Hardcore" fest in Philly. Great conversation with a really good guy. Support underground music and the Back To School Jam. If you're in the trig-state area or beyond and wanna check out a dope show... you need to be there! Enjoy.

Ep. 118 - Sean Taggart: Iconic Artist and Illustrator.

Aug 19, 2019 01:58:57

Iconic artist and illustrator... Sean Taggart is my guest on Episode 118! In the New York Hardcore scene, he's known for his iconic album covers and show flyers. Agnostic Front's "Cause for Alarm" cover, Crumbsuckers "Life of Dreams", Prong "Primitive Origins", countless flyers and even created the artwork for "The Jerky Boys". This was a super interesting conversation to say the least. He has deep roots on the Lower East Side, the A7, CBGB. Great stories. Great guy. I hope you enjoy this one. Respect.

Ep. 115 - Brooklyn Graffiti Writers: Mega T2B & Score NSB.

Jul 29, 2019 01:24:36

Comin' at you from "Wood Park" in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I sat down with two Brooklyn Originals. Graffiti writers, "Mega T2B" and "Score NSB" to talk graff. Where they got their inspiration to go out and put their names up in paint, where they got their names from, and everything in between. We discuss the always debated question, "is graffiti art?" We touch on the rules of graffiti, throw-ups go over tags, fill-ins go over throw-ups and so on. I had never met these guys before we met up to do this, and I'm glad I did. Good guys with a passion for graffiti. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

Ep. 114 - Josh Waste: Urban Waste.

Jul 25, 2019 01:29:44

I find myself back in "Waste Studios" in Queens. I was here on Episode 75 when I spoke to Johnny Waste, the founder and guitarist of Urban Waste... well now it's time for Josh Waste to tell his story. Having the torch passed to him to front the legendary NYHC band by original singer Kenny Ahrens (RIP), Josh has played a huge part in keeping the band together and consistently playing shows around the country. He has a great story lives for Punk and Hardcore. He had a smile on his face for this entire conversation. Great guy, great band and a great time doing this one. I hope you all enjoy this one. Respect.

The Homie, the Graffiti Legend... OJae FYC returns along with his long time friend and graffiti artist DEAR FYC. Stories about bombing in NYC when the city was grimy and nowhere near as pretty as it is now. How it was hitting the Manhattan Bridge for the first time with holes on the catwalk going all the way down to either the street or the water. These guys have a lot of both good and crazy memories that they share here. Definitely a good time. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

Ep. 107 - Greg Stone: Comedian. Co-Host of The Rad Dudecast & The Cerebros Podcast.

Jun 17, 2019 01:17:01

Comedian and Co-Host of "The Rad Dudecast" and the "Cerebros" podcast... Greg Stone! I initially found out about him by listening to "Robert Kelly 's YKWD Podcast" where Greg told a story about his brother(which I had no idea was his brother at the time)"Joey Southside" aka "The Wolf", the singer for "The Banner" was gonna throw Jerry Seinfeld a beatin'. So I reached out to see if he'd shoot the shit with me about comedy and whatever else we felt like bullshitting about. Great guy. Funny shit. Enjoy!

Ep. 105 - Howie Abrams Part 2: The Resume... Ridiculous.

Jun 3, 2019 01:51:31

It has been 85 episodes since I had on the one and only... the man with the insane resume, Howie Abrams on. It was long overdue. I always enjoy speaking with him. He created the legendary "In-Effect Records' with Steve Martin, formerly of Agnostic Front. He released classic New York Hardcore albums such as the debut full length from Sick Of It All "Blood, Sweat and No Tears", Scatterbrain, 24-7 Spyz, the first time the Bad Brains Roir cassette was released on CD... yup, Howie did that. He signed Vision Of Disorder to Roadrunner Records along with Dog Eat Dog and several others. He has written several books such as "Hip Hop Alphabet" and "Hip Hop Alphabet 2" with Kaves from the Lordz of Brooklyn which was released the day we recorded this. He's working on a Sick Of It All book focusing on The Koller Brothers. The man has an extensive resume that dates back to the early 80's. Sit back and enjoy this conversation with a very important piece of the underground hardcore and metal scene. Respect.

Ep. 104 - Ian McFarland: Film Director, Producer & Editor. Blood For Blood.

May 27, 2019 01:16:23

Ian McFarland is an Emmy nominated and Award winning Film Director, Producer, Editor and Bass player for the Legendary "Blood For Blood". We caught up at the Pennsylvania Hotel across the street from Madison Square Garden to speak mostly about his film, "The Godfathers of Hardcore". In my opinion, the greatest hardcore/punk rock related film to date. Focusing mainly on the lives of the most influential people in underground music... Roger Miret and Vinny Stigma of "Agnostic Front". This was a lot of fun to have the opportunity to do, especially being a huge fan of the film, "Agnostic Front" and his band "Blood For Blood". Thank you for everything Ian. "The Godfathers of Hardcore" is available on all streaming platforms worldwide! The photo of Vinny Stigma that Ian spoke about was taken by Justin Borucki.

Definitely a fun one for me. Respect.

Ep. 102 - Michael Pelczar: Spooky Staten Island.

May 16, 2019 01:13:34

Meet Michael Pelczar. He is the Founder and Creator of "Spooky Staten Island: Unearthing Secrets from the Forgotten Borough". Definitely something a bit different for the podcast, but something that I find interesting, and hopefully you will by the end of this episode. I met up with Michael, along with my girlfriend Nikki (who is extremely interested in this type of stuff) on the courthouse steps in Historic Richmond Town, on Staten Island to find out more of what Michael does. It's hard to put into words everything that was covered without writing down the entire episode word for word. But, we discuss hauntings, paranormal activity, and even delve into, the "Ouija" board. Yes, the "Ouija" board. You may be surprised at what gets discussed here. I hope you enjoy this one. It's different and a little bit of a break from what I usually do, but it was definitely fun to talk about this stuff. - Follow on Instagram here - Join the Facebook Group here - Follow the Facebook Page here

Ep. 101 - Jim Florentine: Comedian. Author. Comedy Metal Midgets Podcast.

May 13, 2019 01:18:14

You might know him from his stand up comedy, or his (one of my favorites) "Comedy Metal Midgets" Podcast, or maybe as a Co-host on VH1's "That Metal Show" or maybe as "Special Ed", the mentally challenged puppet on Comedy Central's "Crank Yankers". Regardless, Jim Florentine is a brutally honest, hysterical guy with multiple appearances on "The Howard Stern Show" and "Opie & Anthony". He met me at a diner in New Jersey with his 8 year old son, Luke to have a conversation, pretty much covering a little of each of the above mentioned things. He has a brand new special out called "I Got The House" which you can find on Amazon Prime, iTunes, or his website. He has a book out as well called "Everybody Is Awful (Except You)" which can be found wherever you get your books. Ep. 99 - DJ Eclipse: Rap Is Outta Control. Non Phixion. La Coka Nostra.

Apr 29, 2019 01:16:06

The legendary DJ Eclipse! I met up with him in Queens to chop it up for a little bit. He takes us way back to when he was a kid growing up in Rhode Island when he first discovered Hip Hop and how he became a DJ. A member of the Rock Steady Crew, Eclipse broke out being a member of Non Phixion after making a name for himself in his town by DJing parties. He takes us through all of that, La Coka Nostra, his history in radio from having "The Halftime Show", his company "Pay to Winn Management" all the way up to his show on Eminem's channel on Sirius Satellite Radio, Shade 45 with "Rap Is Outta Control" with DJ Riz. A lot of history with insight into his career and how he has over 30,000 records in every room in his house including the kitchen but not the bathroom. This was dope to do. Much respect to Eclipse! Enjoy.

Ep. 98 - Diabolic: Part 2: Collusion.

Apr 22, 2019 01:51:41

We picked up where we left off the last time... I met up with rapper "Diabolic" at the same spot. A shit hole bar in Huntington Station, Long Island to catch up. The first time we spoke, he mentioned that he was working on a record with producer "Vanderslice" called "Collusion". Well, that record just dropped along with a video for the song "Think of That". Now, this episode is mostly a conversation about several things and not focusing on anything in particular. From rap to politics, to George Carlin to Nipsey Hussle and all sorts of random thoughts with no direction. A couple unscripted cameo appearances from strangers at the bar who start asking questions as well. Always a lot of fun to sit down and talk to him. Support him and his music. Another record, "The Disconnect" will drop this June. Smarten up.

Ep. 97 - Mister Kaves & Scotty Edge: Lordz Of Brooklyn.

Apr 15, 2019 01:52:46

Mister Kaves... founder of the legendary group the Lordz Of Brooklyn along with Scotty Edge! Live from The Bad Racket Studio. Kaves invited me out to their studio where they're working on a song to be featured in the upcoming television series, "Gravesend" by actor William Demeo - Mister Kaves brings us back to the block from the late 70's and 80's in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and fills you in on a lot of history. Growing up, family, graffiti, hip hop, neighborhood brawls, the formation of LOB all the way up to the present day. This was a lot of fun to do and I learned several things that I had no clue about... like, Kaves bringing Public Enemy to play in a small club in Bay Ridge. Great stories right here. Respect.

Ep. 96 - Scott Roberts & Will Shepler: The Take N.Y.C.

Apr 8, 2019 01:29:35

Scott Roberts and Will Shelper make up two thirds of "The Take". Neither of these guys are new jacks to the hardcore scene. Scott being a former member of Biohazard and The Spudmonsters, and Will Shepler from Agnostic Front and Madball have both been on stages big and small around the globe. We sat down over a cup of coffee and discussed their experiences in the aforementioned bands and how their new project came about. With their background, record deal, an upcoming European tour and album due out soon, these guys are already making a mark. Being a huge fan of Biohazard and Agnostic Front, it was an honor to sit down and chop it up. I hope you enjoy this one! Respect.

Ep. 95 - ILL BILL: Non Phixion. La Coka Nostra. Heavy Metal Kings.

Apr 1, 2019 02:28:19

I sat down with the Cult Leader. ILL BILL. Founder of "Non Phixion", a member of "La Coka Nostra" and along with Vinnie Paz, he is one half of "Heavy Metal Kings". He invited me to his house in Brooklyn to have a conversation, which, he rarely does. So, for that, I'm thankful. We go way back to Canarsie, to 5714 Farrigut Road in the early 80's when he started listening to metal and hip hop in the Glenwood Projects. When he was in a death metal band, "Injustice", playing the "Battle of the Bands" at South Shore High School (which I attended as well) and playing at L'amour opening for bands like "Sepultura". From the beginning of the formation of "Non Phixion", his solo career, the birth of "La Coka Nostra" with Danny Boy, DJ Lethal, Everlast of "House of Pain", Slaine and Big Left. To working with DJ Muggs for the "Kill Devil Hills" record and the formation of "Heavy Metal Kings". There's a lot of history here leading up to his brand new record that he did with Stu-Bangas, "Cannibal Hulk". Sit back and study your lessons and enjoy this episode with ILL BILLY IDOL with a little cameo appearance from our old friend "Tommy Rebel". Respect.

Ep. 94 - Havoc of The Infamous... Mobb Deep.

Mar 25, 2019 01:00:24

Legendary Producer, Beat Maker, Rapper and one half of The Infamous... Mobb Deep! Havoc joins me on Episode 94 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast! I met up with him at a small restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for a laid back discussion about the history of Mobb Deep. From way back when they were called "The Poetical Prophets" to blowing up right after they were featured in the "Unsigned Hype" section of "The Source" magazine. From the first demo to the "Juvenile Hell" record all the way through to the last. His solo records, record labels, fame, tours, an enormous list of people he made beats for and everything in between up until now and what he is doing into the future. I even reminded him about the time he almost died on stage at Tigers Stadium in Detroit on the last date of the "Anger Management" tour with Eminem and 50 Cent. No boring "interview" questions, just an organic conversation. Havoc is a good dude and it was an honor to do this with him. The utmost respect to him and his legal representative, Albert Soler Esq. I hope you enjoy this and hope to link up again with him in the future to catch up on what's happening. Rest in Peace Prodigy. Mobb Deep Forever. Respect. For information and everything Havoc of Mobb Deep related:

Ep. 93 - Danny Shuler: Biohazard.

Mar 18, 2019 01:35:51

Danny aka "D-Lux". Danny Shuler from the legendary Brooklyn band, "Biohazard" met with me at the Park Place Diner in New Jersey (of all places) to be my guest on Episode 93. Both Danny and I grew up in Canarsie, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, which I knew but completely forgot about until we started talking. We talk about the "old neighborhood" and a bunch of people that we both knew from way back. We get into him joining Biohazard and how that all came about. The ups and downs of the band as a whole, touring, the break up and reforming of the band. As well as what the future holds. This was a lot of fun to do. Especially because, being born and raised in Brooklyn, Biohazard was a huge part of my life for many years. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

Ep. 92 - Jason Carter: Sheer Terror.

Mar 11, 2019 01:40:39

Ep. 92 - Jason Carter: Sheer Terror. by The Brooklyn Blast Furnace

Ep. 91 - Paul Bearer: Sheer Terror.

Mar 4, 2019 01:16:31

The Legendary Rev. Paul Bearer ladies and gentlemen. I met up with Paulie and had a conversation with him at the Dakota Diner on Staten Island. We talk the evolution of Sheer Terror, Joe Coffee, and everything in between. He is one of the most brutally honest people that I've spoken with so far. He calls it how he sees it and has no filter. He is, in my opinion, an extremely interesting person with a very unique personality in which I found refreshing in a way. He pulls no punches and I respect that about him. I hope you enjoy this episode. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to sit and talk with the man. Respect.

Ep. 90 - Craig Ahead: Sick Of It All. Live from Carlo's Pizzeria in Queens.

Feb 25, 2019 01:22:08

Pretty much a continuation from the last episode. We went from Rosa's to ova here now... Carlo's Pizzeria in Queens. I sit down with Craig Ahead (Sick Of It All) along with Richie Mancuso and Luke Ruta from Wisdom In Chains. The first half of this episode is a lot of random conversation, cross talk and nonsense. After attempting to keep this on some sort of track, Richie decided to take over and start his own interview with Craig; with the intention of making hi . uncomfortable at times, but it doesn't work in his favor. I hope you enjoy this. It was a lot of fun to chop it up with these guys. Thanks for all of the support.

Ep. 89 - Richie Mancuso: Wisdom In Chains. Live from Rosa's Pizzeria in Queens.

Feb 18, 2019 01:05:26

Garlic knots, Sicilian and Round Pies... chaos ensued. Here's the deal... this was originally designated for Richie Mancuso (Wisdom in Chains). I was supposed to meet up with Richie alone by the World Trade Center. Instead, me, Richie and Luke Rota (Wisdom in Chains/Stigma, Craig Ahead and Armand Majidi (Sick Of It All) and Mike Noodlez (Roadie for Sick Of It All), and Lucas (Sick Of It All's Sound Man)wind up at 2 different pizzerias in Queens recording. So, this is a bit hectic with A LOT of conversation happening. Definitely unexpected, but a lot of fun to do. By listening to this, you'll hear exactly what it's like to hang with these guys. If you enjoy chaos, you'll enjoy these. Respect.

Ep. 88 - Tommy Rebel: Track III

Feb 11, 2019 02:02:03

The people wanted him back... so I tracked down this guy ova here. The first guest to be on the show three times. The Return of Tommy Rebel. This time around he talks about his obsession with collecting. Yes... collecting. Things like old, classic Coney Island memorabilia, signs, stickers and a vast assortment of stuff. And of course we talk a couple crazy graffiti stories, being on trial for vandalism, and about how Central Booking is never a fun or comfortable place to be. Enjoy the rambling of the infamous Tommy Rebel... for the third time.

Feb 4, 2019 00:18:04

Just keeping you up to date with the podcast and answering a couple questions that were sent in. Thanks for the continued support as always! New full episode next Monday(February 11th). Respect.

Ep. 87 - This One's For Howie: Anthony Civorelli (GB/Civ)& Jules Massee (Side By Side/AIAC)

Jan 30, 2019 02:41:35

Anthony "Civ" Civorelli from the "Gorilla Biscuits" and "Civ" along with Jules Massee from "Side By Side" and "Alone In A Crowd" make their podcast debut for a very important reason. "Civ" invited me to his home in New York City to sit down and discuss a benefit show happening on Saturday, February 16th at The First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia for their long time friend Howard "Howie" Glen Wallen, guitarist for "Alone In A Crowd". Howie needs your help. Howie was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma: a slow growing tumor originating off of the auditory nerve between his inner ear and his brain. The tumor affected his balance and ability to walk and caused right side functional deficits. In May 2017, he underwent a 6.5 hour surgery that was supposed to have him back up and running in a month. The surgery, which left him deaf in his right ear, did not remove all of the tumor… and it is growing back. He now suffers from chronic debilitating headaches, loss of balance, cognitive, memory and speech deficits, a tremor in his right arm and hand, vision problems, facial numbness, extreme fatigue, anxiety and, understandably, depression. With these disabilities he cannot work, and that has hit his family very hard. And, as the tumor grows, Howie’s symptoms will only get worse. If left unchecked, Howie’s condition is fatal. So, Howie must have another surgery, a 10 hour surgery, followed by radiation treatment. We can only hope that after this he will improve… but there is no guarantee. Let’s let Howie and his family know that they are not alone during this ordeal. After 30 years, "Alone In A Crowd" is getting back together again to play a one-time benefit show for him. We hope you will show your support and come. If you can’t, or if it is now sold out, you can still donate to the fundraiser we have set up for him. GoFundMe: PayPal Donations: On a much lighter note, they discuss several stories about being on the road with the "Gorilla Biscuits", "Judge", "Side By Side", "Youth Of Today" and a bunch of other crazy stories. I hope you enjoy this... and please donate anything if you can. Every cent matters. Respect.

Ep. 86 - Mike "JUDGE" Ferraro.

Jan 28, 2019 01:24:08

Mike Ferraro... Known to most as "Mike Judge". Legendary singer for New York Hardcore band "JUDGE". I met up with him at a diner on Montville, New Jersey. I met him very briefly a couple times, just a quick, "What's up man, great show" type of thing. Shortly after we sat down and ordered coffee, we started talking; it felt like I had known him for a long time. There were a ton of rumors, speculation and misconceptions about him for literally decades. He addresses, dispels and clears up all of them. He speaks on the formation and break up of the band as well as their reunion show at the Black N' Blue Bowl in 2013 at Webster Hall in New York City. And as many wanted me to ask him, which there was no need to because he brings up the topic of new music and the future of the band. It was an absolute honor to sit down with this man. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

Ep. 85 - David Howard Thornton: "Art The Clown" from "Terrifier".

Jan 21, 2019 01:06:17

David Howard Thornton is an actor and voice over born in Huntsville, Alabama. He sits down with me over a couple cups of coffee and discusses his journey from the south to Astoria, Queens. He is best known (for now) as the brutal killer, "Art the Clown" in the movie "Terrifier" directed by Damien Leone. It is currently trending on Netflix. He talks about making the film, the things that influenced his body language in the film along with a bit of a deeper viewpoint into the killer clown. This was definitely fun and different to do. I hope you enjoy this one. Art the Clown and the movie Terrifier Rule!

Ep. 84 - Jeff Altieri: Enrage. The Staten Island Landfill Kings!

Jan 14, 2019 01:11:20

From the Slums of Shaolin... The Staten Island Landfill Kings... ENRAGE! Singer and co-founder of one of the longest running Staten Island Hardcore bands, Jeff Altieri aka Jeff Enrage is my guest. We met up at the King's Arms Diner on the North Shore of Staten Italy to talk about a couple two, three things or so. From the old days of L'Amour's, Thrash Metal, Hardcore, to the formation of the band, to Jeff possibly getting jumped by someone's husband who was on "Mob Wives", to wrestling... this was a really fun and laid back episode to do. Jeff's is one of the good guys and sings for an awesome band. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

In May 2017, he underwent a 6.5 hour surgery that was supposed to have him back up and running in a month… The surgery, which left him deaf in his right ear, did not remove all of the tumor… and it is growing back. Howie now suffers from chronic debilitating headaches; loss of balance; cognitive, memory and speech deficits; a tremor in his right arm and hand; vision problems; facial numbness; extreme fatigue, anxiety and, understandably, depression. Let’s let Howie and his family know that they are not alone during this ordeal. After 30 years, Alone In A Crowd is getting back together again to play a one-time benefit show for him. We hope you will show your support and come. If you can’t, you can still donate to the fundraiser we have set up for him. We've had a lot of requests to donate through PayPal. That is not available on this platform but if you want to donate through PayPal, you can do so through: Thank you to Scott Vogel of Terror for allowing me to use the song "Stick Tight" at the end of this episode. Jan 2, 2019 00:21:26

So I figured it was a good time to have her on once again for a little conversation. We talk Christmas, Sick Of It All, Done Deal, if Santa is real and animals, she also asked me a few questions. We met up with Walter in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for an in depth discussion about the history of his music. Quicksand's debut record "Slip" is one of my all time favorite albums (Johnny as well) so there's a lot of talk surrounding that record which changed the landscape of music as a whole. From the early days of Youth Of Today, up to what he's working on now... this was an awesome conversation for me personally. I hope you enjoy it.

We discuss the formation of "Urban Waste" in 1982, the break-up of the band and the resurgence as well as how amazing it is that a bunch of young punk rock kids formed bands way back then and are fortunate enough to still be playing to this day. None of these kids had any idea that they were laying down the ground work for a worldwide movement. We also discuss parenthood and how neither of us thought we would ever be parents. Recorded Live from the New Jersey Horror Con And Film Festival at the Showboat in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Tony Moran is a one of a kind guy. I hung out with him for a couple days at the convention. After a very memorable couple of days, on the last day of the convention I decided to record what was intended on being a short interview. But, knowing how Tony is now, it turned into him telling a story to me and 3 other people who came to his table for an autograph and a photo. From him cursing throughout a karaoke version of a Guns N' Roses song the night before to dealing out a well deserved beating to Ace Frehley's bodyguard in an elevator for groping Felissa Rose of "Sleepaway Camp" fame. We talk how he was introduced and brought into the Hip-Hop subculture by "Crazy Legs" of the Legendary "Rock Steady Crew" to being a member of the underground classic group "The Arsonists". How he then went solo and put out several records under "Q-Unique" along with his metal and grunge background. He met "Fieldy" from "Korn", toured with them for several years and learned how a successful metal band works behind the scenes. He then joined a band group called "Stillwell" with members of Korn and P.O.D. then embarked onto his own group "Kings Bounty" with guitarist Mike Dijan. Very cool, laid back conversation with a super nice guy, all while drinking coffee with our pinkies out and eating avocado toast. Yes... we did. Enjoy.

Oct 3, 2018 00:07:01

Recorded Live from the "New Jersey Horror Con And Film Festival" at the Showboat in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I had a quick conversation with a cult favorite. Ron Millkie. He played "Officer Dorf" in the original "Friday the 13th". He had a small but memorable role, especially if you're a horror nerd like myself. He was funny, super humble and grateful to be at a convention where people flocked to his table to get autographs and take pictures with him. Especially because he had a small part in a film that was released almost 40 years ago.

Ep. 68 - L'amour: "The Rock Capital Of Brooklyn" Staff Reunion.

Oct 1, 2018 01:55:23

This is probably the most "conversational" episode to date. I got together with DJ Alex Kayne, "Dizzy" the infamous L'Amour waitress, "Bud" who was a staple at the legendary rock club and Nikki, who was also a regular and practically lived there. We all sat down in Bay Ridge at "The Brooklyn Firefly" and had a conversation about the Legendary "L'Amour". Some say "L'Amours", and I personally pronounce it, "La-Mawz". The club opened in 1981 and closed it's doors for good in 2004. Every rock and metal band that became a household name played there. From 80's Hair Metal bands in their prime, to Thrash and Death Metal to Hardcore bands and cover bands. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Merciful Fate, King Diamond, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Carnivore, Suicidal Tendencies, W.A.S.P., KISS, Twisted Sister, Overkill, Hanoi Rocks and literally thousands of other bands have done gigs there. This was fun to do, and like I said, there really isn't any questions, so, sit back and listen as if you were at the table with us. I hope you enjoy this one, it's definitely a little different than the others.

Bonus Mini Episode - Harry Manfredini. Legendary Film Composer.

Ep. 67 - Ratbones: Part 2.

Sep 26, 2018 01:18:43

The long overdue sequel with "Ratbones". He was technically the first guest on the podcast way back on Episode 3. He's back with more crazy stories about going from South Jersey to Detroit, then back again with nowhere to live. Drugs, homelessness, a crazy childhood, Punk Rock, Hardcore and everything in between. "Ratbones" has come a long way. A great guy and always fun to have a conversation with. Enjoy. The song at the end is: Lethal Aggression: No Scene. Rest In Peace John Saltarelli.

Ep. 66 - Brendan Rafferty (Part One): SFA. CBGB.

Sep 24, 2018 02:45:12

Part One of Two... (and maybe more than that) Brendan Rafferty is the singer for New York Hardcore band "SFA"(Stands For Anything)formed in 1984. He worked at the infamous CBGB "Home Of Underground Punk and Hardcore" for a combined 14 years! He was in the U.S. Army, started going to hardcore shows on a consistent basis in 1984 and has seen it all. "SFA" toured the entire United States and Europe. He's very outspoken and pulls no punches, and he doesn't care what you think about that either. Enjoy Part One because this is the "nicer" of the two. Part two gets "real" and he exposes a lot of things and sheds light on the truth about things you were told otherwise about. This was fun as always. Enjoy!

Ep. 65 - Gavin Van Vlack: Burn. Canonized. Physical Culture Collective.

Sep 17, 2018 01:05:46

Recorded Live from Bushwick, Brooklyn at Physical Culture Collective. Gavin Van Vlack, guitarist for NYHC band Burn, Canonized, Absolution and several more throughout the years. We sat down at his gym and we discussed everything from his new project, Canonized, the state of music nowadays, some politics, we even had a couple things to say about rapper 6ix9ine. There is definitely some Brooklyn ambience with some sirens and passing subway trains in the background. Hope you enjoy this episode.

Ep. 64 - Baron Misuraca: Carnivore A.D.

Sep 10, 2018 01:46:39

Baron Misuraca is the singer and bass player for "Carnivore A.D." A reforming of the classic band "Carnivore" strictly to honor the music and memory of Peter Steele who founded the band in the early 1980's. I hung out with him at his house on Long Island and discussed his role in the band, how Peter Steele and him met and became friends decades ago as well as Baron's role in the legendary band "Sheer Terror" in which he played bass for in the early days and appears on early demo tapes. I'm glad we made time to do this. Baron is a sincere and humble guy. I think it comes off as such in this episode. The song at the end of this episode is Carnivore A.D. doing the classic song "Angry Neurotic Catholics" at Hellfest in France in front of 20,000 people. Enjoy. Peter Steele and Keith Alexander... Rest In Peace.

Ep. 63 - Lordz Of Brooklyn Social Club.

Sep 3, 2018 01:55:03

From the heart of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I met up with six of the members of the L.O.B.S.C. (Lordz Of Brooklyn Social Club) to talk about their inception, how it was formed and what it is that they do. A bunch of guys who know each other since they were little kids, all from the same neighborhood decided to become a part of the club created by Drew; who at 6 years old was featured on the debut "Lordz Of Brooklyn" record "A Family Affair". They create fundraisers and host charity events in order to give back to the neighborhood they grew up in and still have a deep rooted sense of family and community. Unfortunately, a rare trait today. I was happy to hang with these guys for a couple hours and learn about this club. Glad I did. Support these guys! Respect.

Singer for the NYHC band "Step 2 Far" and former doorman for the legendary CBGB for over a decade. We met up in the heart of Bay Ridge to have a laid back conversation about whatever came to our heads at the moment. I know Frank for a long time. One of the best guys ever. Respect.

Bonus Mini Episode - Chris Golas from Agents Of Man. Live from This Is Hardcore 2018.

Aug 27, 2018 00:10:47

In a very loud and chaotic backstage area at This Is Hardcore 2018, I caught up with Chris Golas (drums) and John Doherty (bass) from Agents Of Man to touch on a few things about their plans, their set at the festival and a few other things. With a little side conversation with Sean Martin of Twitching Tongues and Hatebreed. Sometimes in this environment, you don't know what can happen or who will drop in to say a few words. This was hectic but definitely a fun few minutes. Hope you enjoy it. Respect.

Steve Mona is the former Commanding Officer of the New York City Vandal Squad. But... he likes graffiti! He's also a 9/11 First Responder who worked on "the pile" for months at a time. On a lighter note, he's part of the Delta Bravo Urban Exploration Team in which Danny Boy from House of Pain / La Coka Nostra founded. Steve is an incredibly genuine and nice guy. I'm happy we made this happen. I hope you enjoy this episode. Thanks as always for listening.

Bonus Mini Episode - Jack Zabinski of No Option. Live from This Is Hardcore 2018.

Aug 20, 2018 00:06:12

Being trapped inside The Electric Factory at This Is Hardcore 2018 for a couple hours due to pouring rain, I spotted Jack from the band "No Option" who opened the show on that Friday and asked to speak to him for a couple minutes. Being such a young band, I was pleasantly surprised by the reaction they got. Super nice kid in a dope band. Support them. They seem to "get it".

Ep. 60 - Cody & Mark from Gloves Off. Live from This Is Hardcore 2018.

Aug 15, 2018 00:54:02

Recorded Live from This Is Hardcore 2018 at The Electric Factory in Philadelphia. Cody (Vocals) and Mark (Bass) from "Gloves Off" sat down and chopped it up about everything from their upcoming Fastbreak Records release, to future shows to breaking each others chops constantly. I had a lot of fun doing this. Yes, it's hectic in the background and people make little cameo appearances... but this is what happens when you have no map to follow when doing a Live podcast from a hardcore festival with thousands of people. Thanks for listening.

Aug 8, 2018 01:55:28

Diabolic is a rapper from Suffolk County, Long Island. He's been in the rap game for decades. His debut record "Liar And A Thief" is considered a "classic" hip hop record by most people. "The Foul Play Mixtape" and "Fightin' Words" are nothing to sneeze at either. His newest record "The Disconnect" is complete and will be released within a few months. He's got classic joints with Immortal Technique, Vinnie Paz and Ill Bill as well. I didn't know what to expect when we met up at a shitty little bar in Huntington Station, Long Island. He was nothing but cool and mad easy to talk to. This might be the episode that is the most like a regular conversation with no direction. I hope you enjoy this one. It was definitely cool to do, especially being a fan of his music. Respect.

Bonus Mini Episode - This Is Hardcore 2018 Wrap Up Report.

Aug 6, 2018 00:20:05

This Is Hardcore 2018 was an amazing and memorable 4 days. So I decided to do a quick little bonus episode speaking on it. The entire This Is Hardcore Team deserves it. The time, work and passion these people have into putting on, in my opinion, the best Hardcore fest in the United States is second to none.

Ep. 58 - The O.G. Gavin: Done Deal. Broad Street Breakdown. Cresson Street Tattoo.

Aug 1, 2018 01:17:51

Me and The O.G. were talking about doing this episode for about 6 months. So, finally, during the weekend of this year's "This Is Hardcore" Festival in Philadelphia, I met up with him at Cresson Street Tattoo and finally sat down to do a little blah blah. He's the singer for "Done Deal", one third of the "Broad Street Breakdown" podcast along with Vinnie Paz and Pablo Regular... who makes several little appearances throughout the episode. One of the best guys I know and absolutely one of the realest. Recorded in the basement at the tattoo shop, away from the chaos upstairs we spoke about everything from old school wrestling, hardcore, shows, the annual Cresson Street Tattoo toy drive,Trump and the 1985 "MOVE" bombing in Philadelphia. "Tommy Rebel" is back on the show telling some stories about the dangers of writing graffiti in the subway tunnels all over New York City and how, on a couple of occasions escaped death by literally inches! Whether it was by electrocution or by being hit by trains. The risks one has to take in order to get "ups" is second to none. I hope you enjoy this look into the underground of the concrete jungle.

Hahaha! A bunch of true stories about being a crazy kid in Brooklyn back in the day. Some things that were done, if done today, you'd be labeled a domestic terrorist most likely. They talk about the new album, tentatively titled "Wasted For Life" which should be out by the end of the year or early 2019. Recorded on Dean's back porch in Queens, I hope you enjoy this cool ass conversation. Respect.

But Mike didn't show up just to share memories about the good ol' days with the band (although there's plenty of that), Mike is looking to settle the score of a very personal injustice.
