Hey y’all. This week Jonah is called out of town for mysterious reasons and good friend/alternate timeline Jonah and Better Call Saul Insider podcast host Chris McCaleb stops by. He confronts us about why he’s never on with Jonah and frankly has a point. But then Music Neüs starts and he straps into the experience that the NY Times has called “earth shattering” and the NY Post has also called “earth gluing back together” It’s nice that the press can appreciate us. Finally we do a little deep dive into ole Pops Satctmo hisself. Its a very Mardi Gras episode! Which is why we discuss the Who rapping, a John Frusciante solo album, boobs on album covers and the dead man who put them there, and an Orange County Dennys Punk Rock show. Finally we wrap up with a game that never should have made it to air. When I came up with the name, it seemed great. When I put it together, it seemed bad. Harken back, ye raydiots, to a time when we did a podcast and Allie Goertz was the guest. Then Jonahs' stomach got a wobbly and he left to use the bathroom and then never came back and poor Allie had to put up with Neil and Cash! Well stop remembering, cause Allie is back and Jonah didn’t go to the bathroom the whole time she was there! Rejoice! We talk Music Neüs as is our wont. We follow up on the KC sweater story from last week, Cash pitches a unified SNL cinematic universe, Olivia Coleman and Phoebe Waller-Bridge team up for a Portishead cover, Billy Idol talks about the emotionless robot he almost played in the 90s, and we ponder what the posthumous Soundgarden album will be like. Then it’s time for the return of our unnamed theme segment of the show. This week everyone was tasked with finding a song they were introduced to by a tv show that was NOT the theme song. But it is her love for Liam Gallagher that’s brought her to us. We talk how the writers room for the Twilight Zone is different than other writers rooms, her pre-legal audition for Whose Line, some Oasis talk, then get really heavy with something about capitalism killing us. Then its all the Neùs thats fit to Music, where we talk tiki’s tok, connect Liam Gallagher to Jeff Epstein, explain why Eminim got a Secret Service visit and then there’s just this note that reads “Tori Anus”. Gerard Way: Live Episode at LA Comic-Con Hey everybody, Cash here.  This week our episode come to you from LA COMICON where Jonah hosted Gerard Way, musician/comic creator/very busy man. You may know him from My Chemical Romance, his comic/Netflix series the Umbrella Academy or his current run on Doom Patrol. He and Jonah talk about keeping the creative spark going and finding the right medium for the right idea. It was a good talk. I saw it live.  We were gonna do like a wrap around with music news and such, for all the MusicNeüsheads out there, but then Neil has been having stomach problems. Apparently threw up on his feet in the shower this morning. (For some reason Jonah wanted me to include that.) Anyways we thought that after some serious allegations of sucking were thrown towards Neil by E from Eels last week, we should not record a new episode without giving Neil the chance to defend hisself. So here you have it.  Watch it here if you’d like. It was on Youtube!

194 E of Eels

Oct 11, 2019 6082

Don’t go podcasting my heart! This week we have no guest. What we do have is a replacement Neil, in the form of E from Eels. Jonah and Cash sit with the charming songwriter and frontman and talk music, his time performing with Steve Perry, and how he hates Neil. While huge mega corporations strive to make inroads into serious music journalism while cutting back on serious journalists, we make them look like fools with our groundbreaking Music News. We talk Mott The Hoople, a new that dog album and Jonah points out a Eels-sublime-Beatles riff Later we get into making small heathy choices rather then trying to turn your whole life around and subverting audiences expectations in what kinda show they’re gonna get. TV on the Raydio

May 23, 2019 01:12:47

Podiddly podcast , podcasterinnios.

This week starts out on a bit of a rough patch for the readers that have reached out and expressed their love for not just the podcast but these sort of minor novellas the I write to help get everybody in the correct mind space for the podcast. Apparently King Sh*t and his buddy Nail Drops have an issue with these text descriptions up top. Despite my very very temperate suggestion that they bite my butt, they proceed to bring up issues on air that should be addressed in the weekly meeting, which they don’t show up at anyways. So you, the beleaguered listener, may want to skip that part.

We do music news and talk about little Was X, Marylin Manson, weed and the Who, and a possible Blink 182 reunion.

Our game this week is TV on the Raydio, where each of us chose theme songs for our sitcom, our hour drama and our docu-series. It’s a barrel of fun.

Jan 9, 2019 01:53:22

Hey There, pocasterinios. This week a big big show. Joining us we have past guest/McCartney opening act/musical genius Chris Holmes returning to the show. Joining him is screenwriter/director/Brit Drew Pearce who’s feature directorial debut Hotel Artemis is now on all your streaming devices now.

Chris takes his time on Americas #1 music podcast to première his song cut from Red Dead Redemption 2. He and John Bates had written the credits song for the first game and were asked to write a prequel to the song for Red Dead 2. However, when lyrical songs were cut at the last minute for the game, Chis and John had an extra song on their hands, and Chris played it for us. It’s up on it’s own here at Chris’ bandcamp page. Check it out!

We talk Drews old No Heroics show, Chris release of his first band Yum Yum, drifting in drumming, Chris’ time with the Smashing Pumpkins, the fact that Steven Miller went to high school with the CobraSnake, Paul stories and the Beastie Boys.

Dec 27, 2018 01:14:22

Hey Everybody. It’s a best of holiday spectacular. We go back and give you some of the best gems of the raydio archives. What? Yeah, that’s what is happening.

When I first saw the funnest live television bit ever done, please see link, I honestly forgot that we had the ringleader, Chris Gethard on the show. This show is based in the idea of yelling about punk rock bands at each other and Chris fit right in, then caps it off with a Murder Junkies story. If you want to check out the full episode, find it under Barriganisode in our feed.

Wouldn’t be a year end show without some holiday music, and we hear Ben Ackleys submitted cover of “Last Christmas”

Mike O’Brien has a great show called Advanced Placement Biology on the National Broadcasting Co affiliates. He came on to talk about it and his process in writing using music. We get into a very specific and detailed discussion while providing commentary about his use of Shellac’s’ “End of Radio” and we also commentated on it as well as providing insight. Hear the full episode under Mike O’Brien on our feed

Mark Hoppus is in a band. It’s called Snake Plisken and the I Thought You We’re Deads. Jonahs in it too. Also maybe a mathematician? Something with numbers. Accountant. He was fun. A moth swung by.

We close out with a track from Jenn Champion- Balderdash

Aug 8, 2018 01:26:06

May The Podcast Come Up and Meet You, everyone! We break our streak of having musicians on to discuss comedy by having a comic on to talk music. It’s Kurt Braunohler! And its a great one!

We start with Krishna temples, Edinburgh, and Kurts old video team that took him to the festival. But then Kurt brings us one of the most fun games we’ve played on the podcast. Ladies and gentlemen meet “Shame Face Shuffle”

Anybody can play. Pull out your Zune-type music player, put that batboy on Library>Shuffle and hit Next. Most embarrassing entry wins the round. Comedy album, first instance, round loss. Second comedy album, re-roll. Possible Shoot The moon situation with overall “coolest in every round” where ultimate winner can be named ultimate loser. Does that apply to Jonah in this game? Listen to find out…

Also a prize pack that Neil and Cash put together from things found inter trucks. Look for that prize package to cross over to Doug Loves Movies soon!

Jul 11, 2018 02:12:04

Aloha Podcast! Our guest this week is Rob Schrab, director, writer, co-creator of Channel 101 and author/artist/creator of Scud the Disposable Assassin as well as director of the new season of MST3K

It starts off great, then Neil gets over his skis with dropping his first contribution to the musical side with a song he got from Spencer on the Harmontown podcast. But then we dive into Robs origins in comedy and how MST3K ties into it. We talk Neils fascination with the stories of Motley Crue but not their music. Robs music video for Death Cab for Cutie song Crooked Teeth

We talk the best parts of what Channel 101 has brought to our lives and how the concept of getting paid in fun beats getting paid almost nothing (Shots fired sound at JGL and HitRECord).

We also hearken back to Robs early days and talk his Dead Ale Wives D&D sketch that grew in the early days of the internet and his love for the VHS trading community

Then we take a deep dive into Scud, its origins as a comic, the way it helped break Robs career and eventually let to him abandoning the project pre finale, only to return to it years later to give the fans, and himself, the closure it and he needed. He announces a kickstarter to get Scud the color he’s always deserved.

Jun 27, 2018 02:07:23

Podhaüs begin. Ted Leo, from Ted Leo and The Pharmacists, joins the podcast this week. Ted tells us about his Thin Lizzy proselytizing, his times with his early band Chisel and one of his longest held musical regrets. He tells us about his major label meeting that almost talked him into it and we forget the name of the guy who wrote Waiting for Godot and the Mark Wahlberg movie with the intimate behavior on the rollercoaster.

We also answer your twitter questions. Most of them were addressed to Ted. Also how the French-Dutch movie The Vanishing really screwed up Ted.

Lance Bangs, Bobcat Goldthwait and Ruby; Best Of

Jun 20, 2018 02:06:52

We start with an excerpt from Lance Bangs. We play a song from early in his career Bliss “Gaining Weight” and then Lance takes us through the crazy story of his tour with Mercury Rev on Lollapalooza ’93.

Rozwell Kid with Roger And Bob (Rode Out That Day) from Willow Creek

Next up is Bobcat Goldthwait from the Flying the Episode. He talks his time touring with “The Nirvanas”, his never launched two handed act with David Bowie, and jettisoning his old on stage character.

The Uncluded - Delicate Cycle

Next up we’re back to Lance Bangs where casually mentions surviving a plane crash and we make him go into it. Both Lance stories and even more with him are available on the Episode Before The Next One from our feed.

Swallowing Knives- Life Before Your Job

And finally, when we were putting this best of together, there was only one unanimous call from all of us. “The one where Ruby farted”. Ruby is Jonah and Deannas dog, who is old and has digestive trouble and was a frequent visitor when we did the sow from Jonah backyard shed. We play Sleeping Bag & Rozwell Kid- Miguel This episode features old friends Clint Trucks, Dave Kloc, Deanna Rooney, and Tony Thaxton. A great example of how this show started killing time and a 12 pack in Jonahs backyard.

Second Draft

May 30, 2018 01:16:06

Second Draft

So it all went wrong this time. Our guest, Rob Schrab  put in the wrong address to his GPS and ended up 40 miles away from the studio. We were backed up against our deadline date so we needed to record one to go up today. So we started recording without him, actually called him and did sort of an interview while he sat in traffic. Then Jonah hung up on him and Rob called back and threatened to cut all of Jonahs close ups when he directs MST3K. It was really funny and worked out well and with a great game in the second act of the show we were back on top of the world with forty minutes of a great podcast we had salvaged from the ashes.

Then the recorder failed.

So we made another one and thats what you’re getting. Rob wouldn’t pick jp when we called back. Neil cheated in the game by using all Jonahs successful answers from the first, now lost, round. We talked band feuds. It was a real experience.

Because Malort

May 2, 2018 01:22:08

Sorry so overmodulated. We tended to shout cause we were so excited! It didn’t sound any better live!

Warning, it turns out when you have an antagonistic podcast, you get a antagonistic audience.

John “Jughead” Pierson from SCREECHING WEASEL and EVEN IN BLACKOUTS got attacked by a wild boar. He gets into the yin/yang of Screeching Weasel, and what then yin gets up to when the yang isn’t around, his experiences with Green Day and Blink 182, and his theater gigs. A guy kept bringing Jonah PBRs. All Time Champion Guest Dave Lyons came thru and flew in to sing “Veronica Hates Me” with Jughead. Jughead also brought games and gift and we got into that. A few folks attempted “Slogans” with Jughead and Jonah finished it up with his own vocalizing on “Peter Brady”.

Check out all the shows they do at The North Bar at

Check out Screeching Weasel and Even In Blackouts online.

And a big thanks to all those who came out. A big “go f*ck yourselves” to whoever bought the Malort.

A Very Kloc Holidays

Dec 25, 2017 01:26:31

Forgive us is we’re a bit vulnerable, but a Dave Kloc episode is the most science based way of making us feel special. The sheer diversity of subjects discussed in this episode will shake your entitlement to the very core. The fetus of the idea for this podcast can be traced back to conversations we had with Dave years ago, so we’re all excited to have him back on. Plus he gets science based for his conversations about hockey and his new yearlong subscription program. Plus we play some music from an awesome transgender rock group G.L.O.S.S. There, I used all 7. F*ck Trump and his repressive-ass directions about what words people can use.

What's The Episode Morning Glory

Jun 20, 2017 01:30:41

Hi, I'm Neil Mahoney from Osterville, Cape Cod Massachusetts United States of America. I was born into the area code 508, shared by south east Massachusetts and Rhode Island. As a kid we got two different TV channels for each network [NBC, CBS, etc…], one from Boston and one from Providence. AHEM…. Strap on your leathers, and pluck all your feathers for this father's day edition of Jonahraydio- featuring dad-bods Patrick Cash Hartzell and Neil "Neiled It" "Nizzles" Mahoney. I don't quite remember what we talked about, but it was good casual hangs with my first friends in comedy. Adam was being lavished with praise and admiration elsewhere because he is an actual father, but us other three shot the shit, had a beer, and shared some music by:   Why?   "This Ol' King" Why?  "Sand Dollars" Propaghandi "Humane Meat" [see Dave Kloc at ] Tim Kasher "Runts" Camper Van Beethoven "One of These Days" Rodion G.A. "Disco Mania" NoMeansNo "Humans" Girl Pool "123" Dan Auerbach "Waiting on a Song" Oasis

Hey everybody. Cash here for the no show Adam. He wasn't there but long time friend of the podcast and artist extrodinare Dana Lechtenberg was. Check out his work on this podcast and more at We talk movies, music, fake energy becoming real energy. I had like five beers. And there was an uncomfortable argument that we cut out. But I left in some weird cuts taken out of context. It's much better than the bullshit we yelled about.

Wow have we got an episode for you!  We had no one. There was absolutely no guest. It was just the four of us and Deanna on a Sunday night trying to be upbeat.

We did discuss some things you might have always wondered about the show. But that's about it.  We also played 5 songs. Dig it man.

I think I was there for about 15 or 20 minutes.  Then I had an emergency and had to take off.  But fear not Jonah Raydioites cause the show sometimes goes on.  Wait, that's not right.  Anyways our guests were wife and husband duo Chantal Claret and Jimmy Euringer.  You might know them from from their own respected bands Morningwood and Minor Self Indulgence, and Chantal's solo titled stuffs.

The only thing I have in my notes besides the stuff Neil took for me are that our guests sang a theme song for us to start the show.

Is this okay?  Never mind.  I don't care.  K bye.

I do care.

Cucumber Episode

Jan 10, 2015 02:29:45

Happy New Year everyone! Last episode from 2014 everybody, and it’s a very personal episode filled with shouting! Lots of drop ins and edits from your main man Neil Mahoney (@NAILS13 on Instagram, @NEILMAHONEY on Twitter @KnitTheseNuts on Etsy). Warm and friendly words from Deanna Rooney, Stoney Sharp and Ben Goetting and a jaw-dropping late pop-in from Dan Weidenfeld and his wonderful lady Nichole.

Cash and I are there too, but that's normal.

Big end of year love to our biggest supporters Dana Lechtenberg and of course the best and brightest Adam Rodrigues, whom I accidentally deleted from the “official text chain” and did not make it to the recording. My pennance is that I have to write up the notes myself (by the way, this is Neil Mahoney @NAILS13 on Instagram, @NEILMAHONEY on Twitter, @LordFartleroy on PBS Downton Abbey Message Boards).

Live From Neil's House It's Hostless FM

Apr 17, 2014 01:04:45

Remember that movie about the haunted house where that little girl goes "they're baaaaaack."?  Don't know why I was thinking about that. I've never seen that movie, but only know it as a pop-culture reference.  This episode of Jonah Raydio Hostless FM features a live broadcast from Downton Stabby, aka Castle Neilskull, aka protective enclosure over his expensive carpet that him and his mom went halvsies on. Jonah and Adam were not there, but Neil and Cash are joined by a mystery guest who despite not wanting to be named, ends up the funniest person on mic. Disclaimer, do not listen unless you're a huge fan of these Hostless episodes.  It's real boring.

Crooked Episode, Crooked Episode

Nov 7, 2013 01:21:32

DISCLAIMER : In today’s episode of JonahRaydio Co-Host and lovable cut-up Neil “Nails” Mahoney refers to a collection of art zines by an artist by the name of Mike Giant. In describing the two-word titles of these zines, he used the word “Solipsism” to describe how if you swapped the first sound of the words, it would make a funnier title, i.e. “Flood Bart” becomes “Blood Fart”. This incorrect usage of Solipsism was due to Mr. Mahoney’s nursing of a baby bottle full of Bourbon.
Solipsism is the philosophical/metaphysical concept that one cannot be certain anything exists outside your own mind. The word Mr. Mahoney meant to use was “spoonerism”.
We regret this distraction may prevent some listeners from enjoying today’s episode, or worse, promote the incorrect usage of Solipsism, but we we will strive to be better podcasters, men, and U.S. citizens in the future.

On this episode of Jonah Raydio we have good friends Sean O' Connor (Comedy Central Half Hour, Sports Show with Norm MacDonald) and Sam Brown (Whitest Kids U Know).  Plenty of jokes were had, we talk about how great the movie Magic Mike was, and Jonah and Sean reminisce about their ill-fated tour Still Born in the U.S.A.  Sean and Sam currently have a movie project on Kickstarter that is amazing, so please donate if you can.  In addition to stand up Sean has written on a variety of shows including MTV’s Video Music Awards and The Sports Show with Norm Macdonald, and has a half hour special on Comedy Central’s The Half Hour.  Sam can currently be seen on tour with his comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U’Know.
