Bob Goff -- Land The Plane

Oct 2, 2019 00:18:48

Description:

For all the planning that you’ve been doing to set absurd expectations, explore opportunities,  clear the path, take action, expect setbacks and sustaining belief, it’s now time to land the plane of your big ambitions. This is the moment, now is the time. Don’t wait a minute longer, heaven is leaning over the rails to watch what you do next.

For some, the hardest part of the dream big framework is finding the courage to set absurd expectations in the first place.

For others, though, they get stuck in the planning. There’s so much thinking and pondering and ruminating that it becomes a never-ending cycle of inactivity. Going public with your dreams requires courage, and the temptation to wait a little longer or plan a little more is strong.

But you have to land the plane.

If your dream is going to see the light of day, then you're going to need to learn how to sustain belief.

It's different for everybody. You might need close friends to give you frequent reminders of encouragement. You might need to keep returning to the original reason why you had this ambition in the first place. Or you might need to establish a habit of writing down, again and again, the reasons why this matters to you.

No one else can manufacture belief for you- it's something you're going to have to do on your own.

Whether creating jobs, feeding children or improving education, it begins with giving back in order to build a world that we all want to live in.

In 2017 Ben created a lifestyle blog, The Mahogany Workplace, where people are free to openly and honestly discuss all things life, love and everything in between. From style to travel to world views, Ben and his team of refreshing contributors cover it all, with the one common thread being complete transparency about how life can truly be – a series of ups and downs, joys and sorrows, triumph and pain.

Ben stays connected with his loyal Bachelor following with his iHeartMedia podcast, “Almost Famous,” which he co-hosts with his friend and former Bachelor contestant, Ashley Iaconetti. It’s the perfect destination for fans to get an inside perspective on the popular franchise as they break down the current Bachelor season in addition to discussing pop culture, offering relationship advice and allowing listeners to keep up with their personal lives.

Along with “Almost Famous” a new project started in 2018 for Ben and IheartMedia; a new podcast venture called Lady Bosses (and Ben). Ben along with his co-host Jesse Draper believe that we are at our best when we can communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully. Lady Bosses (and Ben) interviews and highlights women leaders in whatever arena they are operating. From celebrities, CEO’s, to athletes Lady Boss (and Ben) desires to show off their stories and empower all leaders listening that they matter and that they can make a difference.

Of all Ben’s ventures, his longest-running connection has been with Humanity and Hope United, where he holds a seat on the board. Established by one of his best friends and Mahogany Workplace contributor, Riley Fuller, Humanity & Hope United is a non-profit organization working to assist underserved villages in remote parts of Honduras. They partner with the people of each community to achieve sustainable change, focusing on the needs of individuals rather than a single issue or approach.

Bob Goff -- Clear the Path

Jun 5, 2019 00:16:31

Description:

As we go through life, there are a few things we pick up along the way. Some of them are good- talents, experiences, friendships, and habits. But some of them aren’t so helpful when it comes to dreaming big dreams and living a life of adventure and purpose. In this episode, Bob and Scott are going to guide you to have the courage to look in the mirror at your own life to see what you might’ve picked up along the way that isn’t leading you to the life that you’ve always wanted.

It takes courage to look in the mirror and clear the path.

It’s not easy. You’re probably going to see things in your own life that either you haven’t seen before or things that you’ve been working hard to avoid. Some of them might be small things- little idiosyncrasies you do that are unique to you but have become unhelpful habits. Some of them, though, might be more significant- like the limiting beliefs we all carry inside about who we are or who we could be in this life. Regardless, this is some of the most important work you can do to develop capacity within yourself to reach for bigger dreams.

Christy Nockels-- Dreams are for Sharing

May 15, 2019 00:30:41

Description:

Christy Nockels has long had a huge appreciation for music and for ministry and its role in the kingdom of God. As a worship leader for over 25 years, she’s seen first hand how music can usher people into the presence of God in a powerful way. Whether she’s singing a gentle lullaby or belting out a corporate anthem, Christy’s heart has always been to simply lead people to connect and communicate with the living God.

The daughter of a pastor, born in Texas and raised in Oklahoma, Christy remembers simple beginnings that laid a sure foundation for her life. By the time she was seventeen, Christy was leading worship corporately on a regular basis, mostly thanks to her worship pastor at her church, who believed in her and helped to raise her up. In 1993 - at the Christian Artists Seminar in Estes Park, Colorado, - she met her husband, Nathan, and the two went on to record an independent album called Holy Roar with fellow worship leader and friend, Charlie Hall, under the name Sons & Daughters. The trio had a ground-breaking sound for their time, with hearts to see renewal happen in the Church. The record seeped out and into the hands of Louie Giglio, founder of Passion Conferences. In 1996, he wrote to Christy, Nathan, and Charlie to encourage them that “the songs you are singing are the prayers we are praying” and Giglio invited them to participate in the first ever Passion Conference in Austin, Texas in 1997.

Christy and Nathan eventually moved to Houston, Texas to lead at a weekly gathering of over 3,000 people called “Metro Bible Study” - a ministry to singles held at Houston’s First Baptist Church. Leading here was the gateway for Christy and Nathan being discovered and signed by Rocketown Records, a label formed by longtime Christian artist, Michael W. Smith. The two would form the duo, Watermark and Christy’s voice began gaining a national platform. Christy and Nathan moved to Franklin, TN and over the next ten years recorded five acclaimed albums, including seven number one radio singles, before deciding to lay down their Watermark journey, for the sake of their family.

In 2008, the Nockels family - now a family of five - moved to Atlanta, GA to become a founding family of Passion City Church, where they served on the worship team with friends Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and Kristian Stanfill. Christy eventually signed with sixstepsrecords, releasing her solo debut album, Life Light Up, and later released two more solo albums, Into the Glorious as well as her live, worship album Let it Be Jesus. Christy and Nathan spent twenty years altogether serving and traveling worldwide with Passion Conferences. In 2015, Christy and Nathan returned to Franklin, TN to continue raising their family in the place that has always felt most like home.

Christy is now co-owner of Keeper’s Branch Records, with her husband, Nathan. Christy released three albums in just three years after creating their independent label: The Thrill of Hope released in 2016, Be Held; Lullabies for the Beloved in 2018 as well as the instrumental version of that album. Christy’s latest endeavor is her podcast called “The Glorious in the Mundane”, which has exceeded her expectations since it’s beginning in 2016. It has grown in listeners but also in Christy’s heart as a place where she’s learning to use her voice beyond singing. Christy calls Franklin, TN home, with her husband Nathan and their three children, Noah (18), Elliana (16) and Annie Rose (11).
